CHAPTER 9

THAT NIGHT AFTER THE PARTY (Flashback)

" I like you, Choi Bomin. I've always liked you, from the start. You're cute, funny, kind and smart. Sometimes I'd give you detention just to see you after school, I really like you a lot, Choi Bomin. "

" Do you feel the same way? " Sungyoon confessed, closing his eyes as the silence washed over them. No one dared to  say anything, Bomin just stood there shocked. He didn't know how to react.

Is this guy for real? He's gotta be joking, he thought. " Look " Bomin broke the silence as Sungyoon opened his eyes.

" I'm sorry but I'm in love with someone else " he explained and rejected Sungyoon's confession. Sungyoon sat on his bike, his heart shattered into a million pieces and eyes glistened.

He cleared his throat, " Then can I know who the person is? " he asked. Bomin sighed in frustration, well at least if I tell him, he'll leave me alone then. 

" You know him very well " Bomin commented, Sungyoon was confused. " Who? Tell me, I don't know " he said, " Lee Daeyeol is the one I love, happy? " Bomin stated and walked off into his house.

Sungyoon was left there baffled and stunned, he couldn't believe what he heard. Lee Daeyeol? My best friend and hyung. Daeyeol is the one he loves? Without a word, he wore his helmet and sped home.

BACK TO THE PRESENT 

The students had gathered at the field where their sports day is held. Some stood under the shade while some stood under the sun. Bomin and his friends sat near the shady areas to prevent getting burned.

They weren't chosen to represent their teams in the sports day so they decided to watch and cheer the others on. While his friends cheered for their classed and teams, Bomin was too fixated on the senior's match.

He watched Daeyeol as he played on the filed, his heart skipped a beat every time Daeyeol looked at him. Because he wasn't paying attention, he didn't hear his friends calling out to him.

" Choi Bomin! Look out! " Youngtaek shouted and he turned to see a ball flying towards him, he closed his eyes in fear. Surprisingly, he didn't feel any pain but instead heard a yelp.

He opened his eyes slowly to see Sungyoon blocking the ball and ended up getting hit with the ball. Sungyoon looked at him and they broke apart as the students came to fetch their ball.

" I'm sorry for that, Y sunbae. I promise it'll never happen again " the team captain apologised. " It's okay, just be careful next time. You're not the only ones on the field, okay? " he advised. 

The two nodded and bowed before heading back to the field, the older then turned to Bomin. " You okay? Pay attention next time, you could've gotten hurt " Sungyoon scolded.

Bomin scratch his nape, shyly and nodded. " Are you okay, sunbae? That ball came flying really fast though, are you sure you're okay? " the younger asked. 

" I'm okay, it did hurt but not much " Sungyoon replied before heading to the teachers. " Sun- " Bomin wanted to call out but was interrupted by a smack on the head.

" Aish, who- ", " YAH CHOI BOMIN! START PAYING ATTENTION TO THINGS! YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN SERIOUSLY INJURED " Tag screamed in his ear. 

" Ah hyung, I'm sorry. Next time, I'll pay attention " Bomin said coyly with a smile. The hyungs just sighed at the youngest. " But don't you think Y sunbae should get checked to see if he's okay? " Donghyun mentioned.

" Yeah, you're right. That ball did fly fast and hit pretty hard, you were lucky he was able to save you, Bomin " Jaehyun and Bomin chuckled. " Bomin! " a voice shouted from a far.
