(Y/N)'s POV

I walk to the detention chamber dreading the hour I will have to spend around Malfoy.
Hopefully he'll just leave me alone. But knowing him, he'll do everything in his power to annoy me.
I walk in and take a look around. Usually, this place has several students in it, but there's only a handful today. Most of whom seem to be first and second years. I sigh heavily, plopping down onto a chair. I reach into my bag and pull out a charms textbook. As I open it up, a door slams shut. I instinctively look up, but regret it immediately. My eyes lock with Malfoy's briefly before I quickly look back down at my book. He walks closer and sets his bag down next to mine. Sitting beside me, he takes a book out of his bag and begins reading. I glance over at what it is he's reading. It's filled with pictures of magical creatures and details about them. One creature in particular catches my eye. A Hippogriff. I remember seeing Harry Potter ride one in Care of Magical Creatures class. And Malfoy got attacked by it.
That was hilarious. 'It's killed meh! It's killed meh!' He's such a wimp, honestly.
"Bored of your own book already,
(y/l/n)?"
I look up to see Malfoy smirking.
Fuck.
I ignore his comment and start to read my book again.
"You know, if we're gonna spend an hour stuck together, we might as well make the most of it."
Malfoy says.
Not looking up at him I say,
"Or, we can just ignore each other to make it go by faster."
"Now, what's the fun in that?"
He asks.
"We're in detention Malfoy!"
I hiss, looking up at him.
"We're not supposed to have fun!"
I release a frustrated sigh. Malfoy smiles, clearly enjoying my agony. But surprisingly, he looks back down at his book, and doesn't say another word. Relieved, I begin to read again.

We sit quietly for about fifteen minutes, before I put my book up, and start to glance around the room in boredom. I notice a professor walking laps around the room- Keeping an eye on everyone I'm sure. My mind begins to wonder off, and I subconsciously start to shake my leg. Suddenly, I feel a hand on my knee. I look over at Draco, "Could you not? The shaking is bothering me."
He whispers. I nod, moving his hand off of my leg as if its burnt me.
Ugh! I'm so bored! Maybe talking to Malfoy wouldn't be such a bad idea. What the hell are you thinking? Of course it would!
I lean forward, and look down at my feet. I start fidgeting with my hands, but still I'm bored.
Oh, fuck it.
I sit up, and turn to Malfoy.
"So, what do you want to do?"
He looks up at me, a little shocked. "Oh, so now you're okay with talking to me?"
He scoffs.
"Well, not if you're gonna act like that." I say, looking back down at my hands.
"That's how you were with me."
He shrugs.
I release a sigh,
"That's fair."
Malfoy leans closer to me,
"So do you actually want to do something?"
He whispers. I turn towards him and see a mischievous grin on his face. Smirking, I raise an eyebrow in question,
"what exactly do you have in mind?"
"Want to get out of here?"
Malfoy asks.
"Is that even a question?"
I say, grinning widely.
"Okay, follow my lead."
He whispers as he pulls out his wand. He points it at the professor making laps around the room. The man's back is turned to us at the moment, so Draco whispers,
"Impedimenta."
The man freezes, unable to move. I look over at Malfoy, mouth hanging open. He places his index finger over his lips and motions for me to follow him. We sneak out of the room, careful not to let anyone see us. Once we're out of the room, Draco starts to run down the hall. I rush after him, and catch up finally at the stone bridge.
"Hey, thanks for that!"
I call out, smiling. He looks back at me, and smiles briefly.
"Yeah, well I was bored anyways."
He shrugs, looking forward again. I jog over to him.
"You know, you're not that bad Malfoy."
He laughs,
"You're just now noticing that?"
A giggle escapes my mouth, but I slap my hand over it quickly.
Eww! Whatever that was about, stop it!
We walk into the Entrance Hall and I sit down on the staircase. Draco stops, looking at me.
"What are you doing?"
I shrug,
"I'm just gonna wait for the Great Hall to open for dinner. I mean, it's in about ten minutes, and I'm too lazy to walk back to my dorm."
Breaking into a smile, Draco walks over to me.
"I'll join you."
His smile. It's actually different. As if it's real, genuine. It's stunning.
"So, what are you planning to do while you wait for dinner?"
Draco asks, sitting beside me.
"I have no idea. You got any?"
I admit.
"I came up with the last one. Your turn."
He says, shrugging.
"Well, uhhh..."
I look around for something to do.
"Oh! I know! We could go hang out with your bestie, Harry Potter!"
I tease, gesturing to Potter in the hall with Ron Weasley.
"You're hilarious."
Draco says in a dry tone, rolling his eyes.
I playfully nudge his arm,
"I'm just messing with you."
I laugh.
"I know."
He says, smiling faintly.
I look down at my hands and begin to fidget again. I glance back up at Draco and see him smiling softly at me.
"What?"
I ask.
"Nothing."
He mumbles, looking down.

Finally, the Great Hall is opened. Draco and I walk in with the rest of the students. I stop, realizing I'm headed towards the Slytherin table with Draco.
"Get lost (y/l/n)?"
Goyle calls from behind me. Draco shoots him a glare.
"Shut up Goyle."
He hisses, eyes darkening. I tap is shoulder,
"I'd better head over to my table."
Draco nods,
"sorry about them."
I smile,
"it's fine. I did get a little lost there."
He laughs softly.
"See you around Draco."
I say, walking away. I feel his gaze on me as I walk over to the Hufflepuff table. But, what's strange, is this time I don't mind.
