(Y/n)'s POV

I'm sitting at the Hufflepuff table in the great hall, staring into space as everyone around eats dinner. My mind is apparently too clouded with thoughts to care about dinner being over in about 5 minutes. I haven't seen Laura since her confession this morning. I'm worried about her, I don't know what to make of everything. I don't think I'll go out with Draco, Laura is probably right about him.

But, how can I think that? He's been different lately. Ugh, I don't know anymore. If anything though, a boy isn't worth losing my best friend over. But, I don't love her the same way she loves me, so we couldn't have made in the long run. Oh, why does this have to happen? I don't want to hurt anyone anymore.

I look down at my plate that still held my untouched dinner, and let my head fall into my hands.

Everyone starts getting up, and the plates in front of us vanish. I just stare at the table again, before shutting my eyes.

"Hey (y/n), is everything okay? You look a little distracted."

Draco asks, sitting beside me.

"Just, just leave me alone."

I mumble, before quickly realizing what I said. I shoot my head up, as Draco stands.

"Wait! Draco, I'm sorry, I didn't mean that. I was just thinking- I'm sorry."

He looks a little taken aback, but he doesn't leave.

"I- um well, I just was lost in thought and spoke out of instinct. Sorry. Is there something you want?"

I ask. He sits back down beside me.

"I just noticed you didn't eat, and you look like you're in a daze. Are you okay?"

I nod, tiredly.

"I'll be fine."

"Anything you want to talk about?"

Yes.

"No."

He nods softly, looking straight ahead.

"Well, um I can walk you to your common room if you want."

I look up at him, offering a weak smile.

"Okay, but can we just sit here for a minute please?"

He nods stiffly, looking a little uncomfortable. I take a deep breath, trying not to release the tears welling up in my eyes. I feel a hand rub my back gently and look up to see Draco giving me an sympathetic look.

"I'm sorry, I guess I'm just having a rough day- well not like this morning, just like these past few hours-"

"Hey, it's okay, I get it."

Draco murmurs, pulling me into a side hug. I finally let loose my tears, burying my face into his shoulder.

"I just lost my best friend, and I don't think I can ever get her back."

I whisper. Draco stays silent, but tucks the hair in my face behind my ear and plants a soft kiss on my head.

"Thank you."

He nods against my head before wrapping his other arm around me and pulling me into his chest.

"Just remember, I'm here if you need me (y/n)."
