A high pitched scream rises from the distance, making me turn sharply towards it.
A figure is floating high in the air, facing upwards.
"Is- is that Katie?!"
A girl rushes by me calling out to the girl in the sky. I run towards her, shocked at what I'm seeing.
Suddenly the girl falls to the ground, twitching furiously. My eyes grow wide and I look up to see Hagrid rushing over with Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermoine Granger following close behind.
A strong grip pulls me away from the terrifying scene.
"Let's go (y/n). We shouldn't stay out here."
Cedric instructs, guiding me past the group.
I stumble after him, feeling slightly panicked.
"What was that?! What the hell just happened?!"
I ask, trying to look back, but quickly giving up as I fall behind Cedric.
"I don't know. But Hagrid can take care of it. We just need to get back to Hogwarts, where it's safe."
He says, speeding through the snow covered path.
When we make it to Hogwarts- half frozen, we sit in the Hufflepuff puff common room for a while.
"What do you think happened? To the girl I mean."
I ask, breaking the silence between Cedric and I.
"Maybe.."
He starts,
"She was cursed?"
"But by who? Like- who in Hogwarts would curse a student?"
I question.
He simply shrugs.
"I mean, we weren't on Hogwarts grounds, we were technically still in Hogsmeade. So, I- I don't know. I'm just as confused as you are."
Laura comes running up to us suddenly. She looks out of breath.
"Guys, Katie Bell just-"
She takes a gasp of air.
"She just checked into the hospital wing. I overheard Hagrid and Dumbledore say she was hexed."
"Hexed?"
I stand up, walking out of the common room in a hurry.
Laura walks hurriedly, losing me in the hall.
"Laura! Wait up!"
I call out in hopes she slows down. Instead, she simply looks back at me.
"Hurry!"
She instructs, disappearing around the corner. Groaning inwardly, I break into a jog.
As we get closer to the wing, more students fill the halls. We stop at the crowd built up outside of the infirmary.
"What's going on?"
I question to no one in particular.
Hagrid steps into the hall,
"Students, I'm going to need you to head back to your dorms. There will be no more leaving school grounds for today."
Without saying anything else, he goes back into the infirmary, leaving us there, confused.
I look for Laura but spot her walking away with Kaylen. I start to wander aimlessly through the halls, feeling like my world has been shaken up like a snow globe in the hands of a 4 year old.
I hear someone running across stone floors further down and look up to see a familiar blonde rush into the bathroom.
As I walk past the door, I can't help but hear sobs on the other side.
