"Dating is the absolute worst." You spoke first at supper.

"How so?" Bucky replied, not removing his eyes from his plate.

"Well Jake was crazy psycho," you recalled your most recent date.

"What did he do?" Bucky asked, seemingly uninterested.

"He offered to purchase me a wig since my hair is 'too short and too masculine' for his taste." You laughed off Bucky's distant mood.

"Well don't give up. I'm sure theres someone else out there." He mumbled.

"I think I am going to take a break. It's quite boring," you told him.

"How could it be boring?" He asked trying to stay engaged.

"Well not that it's boring, I'm just not interested. Plus I have you as my best friend," you told him and placed your hand on his.

"I'm going to bed. I don't feel good." He stated and stood up, you hand slid off of his and looked up at him confused.

"Do you need me to get you anything? Medicine? Tea?" You stood up and grabbed his arm so he didn't retreat so soon.

"No..thanks," he replied looking down at you. He admired the fact that you were so quick to help him but he didn't want to look at you right now. Every time he looked at you he felt this gross feeling in the pit of his stomach.

"Ok, text me if you need anything and feel better.." You told him, proud of yourself for finally using your phone on a daily basis. His door shut behind him and you were left alone to clean up the mess from dinner.

"He's been acting so strange lately," you explained sadly and Shuri nodded gently.

"Not to listen in but I think you just need to confront him." T'Challa spoke, laying on a cold Quantum Generator. Shuri agreed and patched up a gash in the side of her brother's stomach.

"No I get that, I just don't know how." You replied and observed Shuri as she worked.

"Just ask him if he's alright. If he doesn't feel comfortable telling you then you just have to understand to back off." Shuri said. You just nodded. She was right, you couldn't just force him to talk to you.

You scrubbed the bottom of the hay trough which was covered in slimy goat spit and shedded hair. Bucky was shoveling the goats poop into a large black trash bag that was supposed to prevent the smell from escaping.

"Hey Buck, can I get your help over here?" You requested once you moved on to filling the water trough.

"You're a big girl, you can do it yourself." Bucky replied teasingly with a half annoyed look on his face.

"What's your problem? I need you and you're just acting like a dick." You replied and lifted the jug with your magic. You tried to refrain from using it since you didn't want to run low your stash of pills Shuri gave you.

"See you could have just done that," he smirked.

"Whatever, James." You glared at him as you gathered the goats up on a purple lead. You left Bucky alone in the cleaned pen as you took the goats on a walk through Wakanda.

Bucky sighed regretfully. He internally cursed himself before getting up and locking the fresh pen.

"Can I give you advice?" An accent asked from the front yard.

"You can but it doesn't mean I'll take it." Bucky groaned and faced the king who looked all clean and crisp in comparison to Bucky's dirt stained jeans and high school sweater he was able to recover.

"Open up to her. She was telling Shuri and I how she missed her best-friend." T'Challa suggested.

"She's fine." Bucky growled.

"You're her first new friend in 200 years," T'Challa sighed, "honor that." He told the solider before walking off.

"You're home." You walked in to see Bucky in your usual spot, watching tv.

"I figured I'd talk." Bucky shrugged. You felt hope brew in your core but you kept calm and approached the solider.

"I've been acting weird because I'm jealous." He got straight to the point, making intense eye contact with you.

"Jealous?" Your breath hitched as you examined the man in front of you.

"Jealous of how easy dating is to you," Bucky continued his explanation with a lie. Your face fell.

"It's not easy, Buck. It's dumb." You sat next him. He tilted his head and his face softened but he still stared.

"I rather just have my best-friend as company. Those men are creeps." You repeated your words from earlier and rested your head on his shoulder.

"I haven't been a good friend, huh?" He asked sadly.

"Better than Kate, she's been ditching me a lot lately." You spoke without a thought.

"Kate?" He chirped quizzically and ran his fingers through your hair.

"My first best-friend. We were like sisters. Her father was a train conductor who took me in. We were inseparable even in the asylum. Lately its been different.." You sighed and picked at your palm.

"Then I'm definitely better," Bucky grinned. You let out a short dry laugh which earned a small almost unnoticeable kiss on the forehead from him.

"I'm sorry, doll." He told you.

"Its ok, Buck." You cheesed at the nickname, it made you progressively happier each time he called you that.
