You looked at the redhead with a slightly frown, you did not expect to have company so soon, then a wonderful idea crossed your thoughts, smiling in an exaggerated way, you were not going to miss this opportunity.

"Hey Kid, take this, we're going to work."

You threw your toolbox at him without even letting him yell at you, of course he did it while you were changing your clothes in the bathroom, despite his complaints and tantrums he accepted because he had nothing else to do, he would not be able to go back to sleep, and, even if he wanted to, Luffy had already occupied the entirety of the bed. You forced him to carry all the heavy stuff, but surprisingly he didn't complain, probably because it wasn't a big deal for someone as strong as him either.

He growled, throwing the wooden planks where you had indicated, without speaking you pointed out the big hole that himself caused the first day he was here, it was the bar where he caused problems. Kid rolled his eyes starting the job without waiting for orders that he was not going to receive, it is not as if he did not know how to do something so simple, you shrugged your shoulders starting to help him.

It was quite pleasant, a comfortable silence was created where only the sound of hammers against the planks was heard, even though Eustass had an explosive personality, he could become calm when concentrating on something, it was rare to see him this serene and It even made you strange not to see him scream for everything, it made you laugh.

"What are you laughing at alone? That's weird."

"Why what?" you looked doubtfully at the boy who had broken the silence out of nowhere, without realizing it your cheek crashed against the trunk of a tree making the opposite laugh "Wha- where the fuck did this tree come from?"

"What an idiot."

"Shut up menstruation hair."

You muttered crossing your arms, you covered your mouth, stifling a laugh when you saw Kid's angry expression, if you didn't die from your failed experiments, this guy would take care of giving you an eternal rest.

"What did you call me?"

The fact that he didn't immediately explode followed by the calm tone he used to speak caused a bunch of red alarms to start ringing through your mind, yes, it was time to run. The chase did not last long, Kid caught you when you tripped over a branch, his body was positioned on top of yours, with one hand resting on the ground and with the other holding your wrists, despite his clear anger that did not prevent you from still you laugh as if you were a little girl playing tag.

You continued releasing these types of phrases between giggles, without noticing the situation you were in, Kid really wanted to hit you at this point, he calmed down internally, being the only conscious one in your position, a playful smile slid across his face, but immediately it changed when you didn't flinch, you kept giggling, already oblivious to everything.

"Aren't you angry anymore?" you gave one last laugh when you heard him grumble, you cleaned your pants wanting to go back to the previous topic "So... why what?"

Your body collided with his side because he stopped walking, you blinked a few times, watching silently as his red cape swayed slightly in the wind.

"Why... why are you so nice to us? Why are you helping us? Do you even know how dangerous we are? I could kill you right now if I wanted to."

It was the first time you had heard him speak so calmly, there was no trace of mockery in his tone, you covered your mouth with both hands, you lasted a few seconds in complete silence until you burst out laughing.

"What's so damn funny?!"

It seemed that all the previous calm erupted in a storm of anger, he grabbed the collar of your shirt lifting you up so that your line of sight was at the same level, his breath hitched in anticipation of an answer while you took your time to look better his face close up.

"I already told you, it's not something you need to know, just accept my help, I don't care how dangerous you may or may not be, and before you kill me you will have to fight against me."

You smiled, patting his head on sheer impulse, his grip on your shirt loosened until he left you softly on the ground, now his frown was changed to a mocking expression.

"Fight me huh? I'd like to see how you try to do that."

"Hey, I'll only do it if it's strictly necessary. Now come on, we've wasted a lot of time and sure Luffy is hungry."
