About three days had passed, you were grateful that at least Enel didn't behave like a fool with you, you couldn't say the same about the villagers since when you had to go out those days they were treated with disdain by the man. But that was better than having to be spraying water every two seconds for trying to attack you.
You didn't think that Enel was a complete idiot but... you noticed that he had beautiful gold earrings decorated with some precious stones, the thing is that among those jewels there was marine prism, in very little quantity, but enough to suppress his powers, so yeah, he was a complete jerk. You couldn't blame him either, after all in Skypiea there is no sea prism, and maybe he stole the earrings from someone who went up there thinking they would be protected from a devil fruit eater, too bad for that person.
You didn't plan on revealing this information for a few more days, just as a precaution, you were still dealing with the man's personality and you wanted, no, you had to be a bit closer if you didn't want to die once you 'cured' him.
"This is boring human, I've already finished fixing your roof."
You jumped from your desk looking up, there were four large pieces of wood hammered poorly, you looked at Enel and wanted to make fun of him because he had a proud face as if he had done the best job of his life, he was like a child handing a drawing of his mother.
"Not bad for your first job."
"Not bad? It's like a work of art! I didn't know I could do these things with my hands."
"You are like a monkey discovering fire..."
"Did you say something?"
He looked at you out of the corner of his eye without having heard you for paying more attention to the badly placed boards of the ceiling than to you.
"Uh- oh, nothing, maybe you should rest from so much hard work."
"You're right, cook." you looked at him in silence with a blank face, waiting for him to correct his expression as you had been asking him these days, you wanted him to stop ordering "I mean, can you make food?"
"Well, at least now you don't seem rude."
"I will never understand what you call courtesy."
"I realized the first time you spoke to me... anyway, I think that in a couple of days I will have the solution to your problems, so try not to be arrogant during that time, then you can go to another island to make tyrant all you want."
"Sounds good to me, what happens if you give me back my powers and I decide to cause chaos here? or even kill you?"
"Then I'll spray you with salt water to make you weak, I'll chain you with sea prism chains, I'll cut off every damn finger on your body, I'll make you eat them, then I'll dismember you and throw you into the lake of piranhas, I'll collect your bones and I will give them to the dogs of the island."
It was the first time you heard Enel laugh, even though you were paying more attention to the pans you were cooking in, you felt it was a genuine laugh, as if he enjoyed getting you mad at specific moments due to your reactions.
"You are a very funny human, with a twisted mind for sure, I will forgive your insolence when we met!"
Insolence? Whatever makes him sleep better at night, the only idiot was him but you weren't going to get into that when you finally got on his good side, who knew that all you needed was a death threat so that he would not kill you.
You continued cooking with a more relaxed state of mind, you could finally feel how the tension between you two vanished. Enel also noticed that while his gaze never left your back, listening carefully as you hummed to yourself the ingredients or steps you followed in the recipe.
It was strange, he didn't find you attractive by his standards, but there was something that seemed to draw his attention, it bothered him not knowing exactly what it was and he would like to know what the hell it is before he has to leave, because no matter how curious he was, his new ambition to discover the world in the blue sea ─as he knows it─ was much greater.
"Done!"
You left some plates on the table, you didn't even have time to take a bite someone was already knocking on the door, call it instinct but only from the way the door was slammed you knew who it was and after all the stress that Enel had caused you, you were not going to go through this now.
You grabbed the frying pan that you had just used, you smiled when you felt that it was still somewhat hot, you quickly walked to the door that was still being pounded on insistently, you gripped the handle well, opening the door.
"Finally, your little bit-!"
You cut it with a blow to the cheek with the hot part of the pan sending the pirate a few meters away, without having an ounce of pity you laughed like a maniac in his face.
"I don't do favors! We are closed."
Oh yeah, helping freely also meant freelancing so you decided no help for a few days, closed the door ignoring the bloodstained utensil, leaving it in the sink to wash later, sitting down to eat as if you wouldn't just knock out a couple of that man's teeth. You definitely did not attract Enel in a physical way, but your moments of brutality and your explosive personality were what he liked without a doubt.
