17. Time is running out

"Were you trying to pass by my property without paying?"

You grunted throwing a fake five hundred berris bill at Law, noticing his victorious smile as Luffy rolled the dice. You were playing this board game where you should get streets or stations, the winner would be the one who obtained the most money or by default if everyone had no less money. Although the players were Luffy, Law and you, it was more like only the surgeon playing against you, since the other boy did not find out about what happened half the time.

It turns out that you cheated on Law a couple of times, going through his streets without paying taxes because he did not realize it, obviously you kept quiet continuing with the game since once your turn passes you should not pay if they do not tell you, you could only do this strategy twice and he already had you in his sights.

On the other hand, Kid did not want to play as he fiddled with the pile of junk next to your construction table, you tried to see what he was doing but he just pushed you saying it was none of your business, of course you punched him on the shoulder for being so rude but you let it go easily.

"Wow, what a shame, you're going to jail."

You rejoiced looking at the crow whose eyebrow was trembling, he had fallen into a special section where he had to take a card leaving his luck to fate, to his bad luck he stayed three turns without being able to roll the dice. To everyone's surprise, Luffy ended up winning because you stopped paying too much attention to your little confrontation.

"Shishishishishi, I win!"

"What!?"

You both screamed in unison noticing how all your money had disappeared, you threw your head back letting out a giggle while Law only frowned. You stopped playing for the moment, they leaned back on the couch, you went for a can of soda. You already had more mobility because about five days had passed since the incident, the sprain was not a big thing, and your body was more than used to this type of situation; broken bones, dislocations, scars, bruises, burns, scratches... it was quite common for you, in fact you could practically dislodge your right shoulder at will without feeling so much pain and your left arm had several scars that were the most notable. Recovery was pretty quick for your body.

It only took you two more days to walk without a crutch as long as you don't overexert yourself, so you resumed work on the boat, it took you three days to finish it completely because your work was slower for your leg, at the same time that you finished with the ship, your leg was already completely healed.

You sighed heavily, throwing yourself on the couch once you got back at midnight, a small smile on your features after finishing work, you did not allow yourself to rest when you crossed glances with Luffy, knowing what he would ask you just got up, starting to cook, you wanted to keep your mind occupied anyway so you wouldn't think that they would sail tomorrow at dawn.

"I am not an expert cook but I can say that this is not how someone would cut meat."

You gasped when you heard Law's voice in your ear, noticing how you were trying to cut with the handle of the knife, you really must have been too far apart in your mind. You stuck out your tongue by grasping the knife correctly, eyeing him joining you, washing up some lettuce.

"Do you think about me so much that you get completely distracted?"

You raised an eyebrow, rolling your eyes, splashed him with some water since you had just washed your hands. You were silent for a couple of minutes where you could only hear the cutlery hitting the grill to move the meat, giving it a sideways glance, you decided that it would be good to express yourself a little.

"Yes, I'm going to miss all of you."

The raven stopped his actions, giving you a sideways glance, returning to his tasks immediately, he had not expected you to admit so easily that you were thinking of them. A crooked smile decorated his features, putting the salad aside, he fumbled in the pocket of his sweatshirt, pulling out paper with a slight roughness. Was he thinking of doing this seriously? He looked at you again, now you were putting out the fire, placing the freshly cooked meat on the plates with a tiny smile. Yes, it was quite clear to him, he was going to do it.

Before you could tell that dinner was ready, he grabbed your wrist, giving a slight pull towards his body, you tilted your head, looking at him with confusion and intrigue, his hand slid down your wrist until it reached your hand, he made you open your palm with your own fingers without waiting he let a piece of a vivre card rest against your palm.

"What is...? Oh."

You looked at the paper in silence, closing your palm tightly, you looked up to meet Law's piercing gray eyes, you gave him one of your best smiles, holding back the urge to throw yourself into a hug, but, knowing how reluctant he is about the contact of such a type you let it pass.

"Thank you, you can come back whenever you want, you are more than welcome."

"I'll consider it if I need a vacation as a captain."

You laughed silently, continuing with the task of setting the table once you put the vivre card in an inside pocket of your boot, dinner passed normally, that is, with occasional shouts or disputes over who gets more food. At bedtime you were dragged by Luffy who wanted to sleep with you, you had no choice because nothing to finish his meal he wrapped his arms around you, throwing you into bed without escape. He shrugged, letting his head rest against the crook of your neck.

You let the accumulated fatigue make its way through your body, closing your eyes slowly until you fall into the pleasant world of dreams, tomorrow would be a boring day.
