~Della~

I find Kelsi outside of Maths class. Her expression tells me she already knows something isn't right with me before I've dragged my tired and fed up ass towards her.

"What's with the face?" she asks amused, prodding at my cheek with a finger when i stand in front of her. I dodge her finger, giving her a frown.

"I'm not in the mood today" i tell her, meaning it. I'm not usually the cheery type as it is at school. But now, today. After my dad saying they're going into adoption. Today can do one.

What the hell are they thinking? Adoption. At their age? I mean, they already have us. What gives? Are we just, suddenly not good enough?

"You've been awake like..." she checks her watch. Even though i know she's doing it to be hella dramatic - as always with her. "An hour. And you're already done with today?" she quizzes, laughing at my mood.

"It's just one of those days" i push past her to get through the door. Already knowing I'm not discussing this with her. Or anyone for that matter. As soon as i get home. We're all going to sit down and talk about this. I'm going to make them realize, this whole thing. Is stupid. It's pointless. I mean, do me and Danny not even get a say in this? Are we not apart of this family anymore?

We've always sat and discussed things before going ahead and doing them. And now all of a sudden it's just okay for them to make life changing decisions... for all of us.

No. Hell no.

I refuse to let another kid just walk freely into my family without a fight.

Because i know what will come. Nothing will change for mum and dad. It will be my life that changes. It will be 'babysit tonight' 'look after it tomorrow' NO. I'm putting my foot down.

I can't exactly see Danny taking it well either. He's so used to being the young, spoilt one. He wont like another kid taking his place.

And he's more of a demon child than my parents think.

"You wanna talk about it?" Kels asks as she gets in the seat next to me.

"Nope" i tell her simply as i pull my book out of my bag. Dismissing her concern away.

"Furry muff" she shrugs, clicking her pen and starting on the work on the board.

Maths class dragged. I managed to listen for a good five minutes out of the hour. And managed to write... absolutely nothing. Zilch work done.

The more i think about it, the more i get pissed off. The more i get pissed off. The more i can't think... can't win!

"Dell?" i hear Adams voice before i see him. I turn, planting a fake smile across my face. Just for him. I can't have him worried about me.

He plants a kiss on the top of my head "Hows my girl?" he whispers into my neck. Turning the forced smile into a real one.

"Tired" i tell him. Actually meaning it.

"Yeah, you do look a bit worn down" he cups my face, taking a closer look at my face.

"I'm fine" i smile up at him.

"Okay, well. I gotta go. I'm giving you a lift home right?" he smiles down at me, hopeful.

I nod. My dad never said anything about picking me up. And even if he is, he'll have a long wait. He's in my bad books.

I drag my lunch tray across the counter. Picking up anything and everything. Not necessarily interested in any of the food. I'll only end up picking at it then throwing it in the bin anyway.

I join Kelsi and Livia at the table, both of them already in deep conversation about something to even realize I'd joined them.

I listen in, catching a little of their chat. Something about a new guy coming to the school tomorrow.

"Who?" i chip in. Only in hope that it takes my mind off of all this shit going off at home.

"Oh" Liv smiles "Matthew Healy" she turns to face me now.

I nod in response. Nope, I still don't give a shit. And I'm still pissed off.

"But how do you know?" Kels bugs Liv for all the deets. "Oh, obviously. Miss know it all because her dad's the head teacher. How do i keep forgetting that" she laughs at her own comment with an over exaggerated eye roll.

"And it also means i get first dibs if he's hot" Liv giggles. Poor guy. Olivia's had just about every guy in our year... apart from Adam. Obviously.

My phone beeps signalling i have a text. I open it up, seeing it's from my mum.

*There will be a surprise for you when you get home :) xxxx*

I swear to god she better be joking!

She doesn't know i know.

"I'm going home" i stand, taking my tray to the bin and emptying it quickly.

"What?" Kelsi laughs. "We've still got two classes"

"I know" I rub my belly to make out I'm not feeling too good "I feel sick. Just, tell the teachers I'll be well for school on Monday" i fake a smile before rushing for the door.

I practically run all the way home.

And it's not exactly close. It's taken me a good half an hour. Jesus, I'm breathless.

I fiddle with the key to get inside. In hope I've been quick enough to stop them doing what i know they're going to do.

I run into the kitchen. A file lays on the table.

I slowly make my way over to it. A picture of a guy with dark, curly hair comes into view. I pick it up, reading his name out loud.... "Matthew Healy" That's... he's joining the same school as well?

He's 16.

And he's the one coming to live with us.

This is ridiculous!

This has just pissed me off even more so now. A teenage guy, joining our family. That makes no sense.

I pull up a chair at the table and wait for my parents to get back, to tell them exactly how i feel about this. Whether he's with them or not.

He's not staying. No way is he staying!
