Tessa POV
(Unedited)I rushed to the room -leaving Michael behind with a quick goodbye- my body shaking at all the possibilities of what the emergency could be. I swung the room open only to find that it was empty.
"Joey?" I called out, my voice sounding frantic. But there was no answer. "Joey?!"
Were my parents okay?
Oh my word what happens if something happened to our parents or even Joey?!
As if on queue, my phone rang. I quickly swiped the phone and held it to my ear.
"Joey?!" I cried. "Where are you?! I am in the room but you're not here! Where are you?!"
"Tessa come quickly! I am on floor 4, please hurry!" His whispered nervously. My heart rate quickened.
"I'll be right there!" My breathing was off the charts. I hung up and shut the door behind me.
I rushed to the elevator and pushed the up button frantically.
"Come on, hurry up" I muttered to the elevator.
With a *ding* the elevator doors slid open. With trembling hands I pressed floor 4 and waited for what seemed like the longest elevator ride of my entire life.
When I arrived on the 4th floor, my stomach dropped;the passage was empty.
"Joey?" I called looking around. I began to pick up my pace as I looked around in anticipation.
I was beginning to feel dizzy at all the stress that had overwhelmed me. I was trying to try my best to stay optimistic but all the thoughts and possibilities, was making it impossible for me. Yet, I still had hope that they would be in this passage filled with emptiness.
I continued to call his name, my hope wearing away when I was nearing the end of the path. I stopped when I heard a "Pssssssst"
"Tessa" a disembodied voice spoke. I stopped and spun around.
"Tessa" they whispered again. My eyes landed on the pot plant.
"Pot Plant?" I asked eyeing the mini tree.
"No!" They snapped.
"Oh, uhm..a-are you the t-tree of wisdom?" I stammered.
Truth be told, if I had a talking animal or tree, I probably won't handle it as well as the people in the movies do. Its just not normal! How can they be so okay with talking animals and plants?!
"No what the heck Tessa!" He screamed. "Sometimes I wonder how on earth you became a straight A student"
My eyes gained focus and landed on something behind it.
Joey.
But Crouching Down behind the pot plant?
***
"Joey?" My face scrunched up in confusion. I felt relief wash over me, eventhough he was hiding behind some tree. Who knows, maybe he has a good reason for it?
"Yes Joey! Not the freaking pot plant or tree of freaking wisdom!" He deadpanned.
Heat rushed to my cheeks when I realized what I said just moments ago. Yeah, not my finest moments...
"Sorry I was so overwhelmed with stress, I wasn't in my right mind" I said, face palming my forehead.
"Clearly" he muttered rolling his eyes.
"So what is wrong?" I played with the hem of my dress, suddenly becoming nervous again. "Is our parents okay? Are they hurt? Are you?! Did they get kidnapped?! Did they get eaten by bears?! Lions?!"
