21: Lies and reactions

I'm so sorry for not publishing earlier, I've got covid and wasn't in the mood of writing.

She went on the train first, not waiting for the others to follow.

She didn't care though.

Something was happening inside her. She wasn't sure what.

She felt in doubt.

She knew what was happening to those people after they left.

They weren't exactly slaves, but...

She sighed entering a compartment and locking the door. She rested her forehead against the wall.

Could she do this in her own blood ?

Could she sit watching them being treated like slaves, like nobodies.

Like no one cared for their well-being.

She bit her lip. She cared.

She cared so much for them.

Her fist hit the metallic wall. " Fuck. "

She turned, her back against the wall. Her body slowly slid down until she was sitting on the ground.

She couldn't afford to lose any of them.

Because even if she didn't want to admit it out loud.

They were her everything.

Kitiara's spirit left her body.

Invisible to most people, she appeared in Republic City.

At the Police Station.

At her mother's office.

The chief was examining a report, still unaware of her daughter's presence.

The air bender stepped a little closer to peer at her mother's features.

" I'm sorry. " She whispered before returning to her body and hugging her knees to her chest.

Lin's head shot up. She heard it. Though, she couldn't explain what and how.

Her eyes scanned the room only to notice that she's alone.

She thought that she must have imagined that and returned back to her work.

Opal took a deep breath, her eyes fixed on the fans.

The members of the Earth Empire had left Zaofu.

" That was... unexpected. " She commented, her eyes leaving the objects to scan her family's faces.

" It was, indeed. " Su agreed not looking away from the fans.

" Alright, so the one time Kitiara is coming here accompanied by an army, and the other time she gives Opal, technically her enemy, a weapon. " Wei stated.

" Care someone to explain wtf with our family ? " Wing asked.

" Language. " Huan scoffed shaking his head. An expression of disappointment on his face.

Suyin let out a breath. " It means that your cousin isn't completely with Kuvira's side. "

" Oh come on. Listen, we really want to believe it but Kitiara and Baatar are literally Kuvira's pets. " Wei retorted.
