NAT POV:
After that night on the roof, Y/N seemed a lot better. She finally opened up to me, and my heart just ached for her. I'm glad I didn't lose my best friend that night. I don't know what I would have done.

I decided, after that scare, that I needed to tell Y/N how I felt. I've admired her ever since she was recruited, but we've never been anything more than friends. But I'm seeing things differently now, and life is short. Too short. And I don't want to have any regrets. Not when it comes to the girl I love.

Y/N and I had made it a little tradition that we would read on my balcony every weekend. It's a nice way for us to relax whilst being in each other's company. She would usually curl up on the cushioned chair, knees tucked into her chest and her book resting on the arm of the chair. The first couple of times, her hair kept falling in her face and she would run her hands through it to keep it back. But now I just braid it before we get settled, so it's out of the way.

I was sat on the opposite end of the balcony, my eyes darting over the pages of "It Ends With Us". Y/N had her very worn and battered copy of "Little Women", which I swear she has read about 3 times already. But I find that adorable.

The sun was blazing in the sky and there was no breeze, so the heat soon got stifling. I paused reading, taking a moment to refocus my eyes in the distance and stretch my neck.

"Do you want a drink?" I asked casually, looking over at Y/N. She held her page with her hand and peered back at me, thinking for a moment.

"Yeah sure."

"Anything in particular?" I asked, placing my bookmark in my book and slipping my sliders on.

"No. As long as it has ice in it- oh and a straw."

"-and a straw" I said at the same time as she did. "Yup. I know about you and your straws."

"What?" she whined at my smirk. "Drinks taste better with a straw. You can't change my mind." She playfully huffed and I laughed. It's the simple things like this which make me fall head over heals for her.

"Ok, well, I'll be back in a bit." I opened the door to my bedroom and walked through, leaving Y/N on the balcony.

Humming 'Mango Pops' by Elle Músa (AMAZING SONG!), I walked down the many flights of stairs to the kitchen. Usually people hate doing exercise in the heat, but Tony had installed an amazing AC system, so the tower was always a nice cool temperature in summer, which contrasted nicely to the outside air.

I walked into the kitchen and over to the kitchen cupboard, pulling out 2 cups. I grabbed a reusable straw and placed it into Y/N's cup, which was green. I filled both cups up with ice, abs then left them on the counter. The fridge was stocked full of food and drinks, and the idea of a fruity smoothie was very appealing to me. Someone had bought a mango and matcha smoothie, and the light green colour drew me in. Y/N loves green, so I knew she'd love this.

I took the bottle out of the fridge and walked over to the island where I had placed the cups. I span around on the tiled floor in my socks, just grooving to the song in my head. I was in my own little world so I didn't realise that I suddenly had company.

"Nat?" A voice spoke.

I quickly placed the bottle on the counter and whipped my head up, trying to identify the source of the voice.
