Nat and Maria were lounging on their bed, watching a random programme on the tv. Their daughter Y/N was chilling on the floor, an oversized black hoodie covering her torso.

The volume on the tv was quite high, but it didn't disguise the odd noise which was driving Nat insane.

"Okay. Does anyone else hear that?" She asked, sitting up from her position.

"Hear what?" Maria said, lowering the volume of the tv.

"That... noise!" They both stayed still, trying to hear the noise that Nat had complained about. But there was nothing. No weird noise.

"I can't hear anything, sorry babes."

Nat groaned and slumped back against the pillows. She wasn't going mad. There was a noise!

5 minutes later, the same annoying noise appeared once again. She furiously pressed the pause button and sat up once again, pissed off.

"Okay. I'm not joking. What the fuck is that noise?"

Both she and Maria tried to listen out, but they were met with silence once again.

"Y/N? Do you hear anything?"

The teenager stayed in her position at the foot of the bed on the floor. Her mothers could only see the very top of her head so the rest of her was hidden.

"No. Sorry Mama."

"Nat it's probably just the tv. Don't worry about it." Maria tried to console her wife but Nat wasn't having it. She pushed herself up off the bed and slowly walked around the room, trying to listen out for the noise that had been driving her insane.

She passed her daughter and gently placed a loving hand on the top of her head as she walked past. But something made her stop in her tracks.

Y/N was sat with both hands in her hoodie pocket and her head was slightly down so her eyes were focussed on the floor.

But Nat could hear some rustling coming from near Y/N and so she turned around.

"Y/N?" She asked nonchalantly, trying to catch her daughter's eye.

"Yes?" The teenager looked up but didn't make eye contact.

"Can I have your hoodie?" It was a weird question, yes, but Nat had her suspicions.

"Why? You have your own." The girl still didn't take her hands from her pocket.

"Yours looks comfy." Nat shrugged.

"No. Sorry Mama, but I'm cold."

Nat hummed in acknowledgment, trying to figure out what to say next. She knew her daughter was hiding something but she didn't know what.

But she didn't need to wait that long. Because a squeak came from Y/N pocket and both Nat and Maria watched their daughter stiffen up, not moving a muscle.

"Y/N?" Maria asked, joining her wife's side. "What's in your pocket?"

"Uh- just my phone." Y/N tried to lie, but to 2 agents it was useless.

"Y/N..."

The teenager sheepishly looked up at her moms. Nat was stood with her hands crossed and Maria was stood next to her, looking as equally unimpressed.

She slowly brought her hands out and opened her palm, revealing the source of the noise that had been driving her mothers mad.

In her palm was a tiny white and grey mouse. There was remains of a carrot still in her hand and it's tiny nose wiggled as it sniffed around.

"What is that!" Maria exclaimed, taking a step back.

"Bernard." Y/N said casually.

"B-Bernard?" Nat asked, her eyes fixed on the tiny creature.

"Yeah. He's one of my mice." The teenager was completely unfazed and placed a little kiss on her mouse's head.

"Wait- one of?"

"Yeah. I have 11 more in my room."

The women looked at each other and then back at their daughter. A mouse was the last thing they thought they'd find Y/N with.

"Do you want to hold him?"

Both women shook their heads. "You keep him, yeah?" Maria said. She wasn't fond of the creatures, but she knew she'd have to learn to love them one way or another. Besides, if Y/N loved them, then she would too.

"Can I see the rest?" Nat asked, watching the way Y/N carefully held Bernard.

Her daughter's face lit up. "Really? You're gonna love Dorothy. She's the fluffiest."

Nat's heart swelled at the way Y/N spoke about her mice. She'd always loved animals, ever since she was little, so this whole mouse situation wasn't surprising.

"Lead the way, honey."
