**Zara**

"I made a friend last night." I tell my dad as I make a bagel.

"Oh, you mean while you were out getting a milkshake and getting chased by a homeless guy than meeting a hot mafia don? Or was that a different night?" He asks sarcastically, and I smile.

I'm so proud of how good his English is hehehe.

"Nope, that's the right night." I nod, taking a fat bite of my juicy bagel.

Ironic, because it's actually kind of dry.

"Oh, Shat!" I curse, making my dad laugh. "I'm gonna miss the bus! By, Dad! I love you. Tell Mr.Travins I said hi and to tell his wife and kids I said Hi! Oh, and tell him I'm available to babysit, anytime!" I say as I rush out the front door with my bag and lunch that I packed. I hold my bagel in my mouth as I skip down the sidewalk on one leg, tying my left shoe then switching shoes.

I probably look crazy.

It's okay.

My neighbors love me...

Some of them.

Okay, one of them.

I get on the bus, taking my regular seat int he back next to my morning buddy. A little old Hispanic man named Mr.Lonzo.

"Good Morning, Mr.Lonzo." I smile.

"Buenos Dias, Zara." He greets. "What happened to your knee, little one?"

"Oh." I say, looking down at my knee that I scraped when i feel up the stairs last night. I ran out of band-aids, so I couldn't cover it. "I have a cool story to tell, if you'll hear it." I offer.

"I'm always up for a Zara story." he replies with a nod, and I turn to him and begin explaining the event of last night.

~~~
"Adios, Mr.Lonzo." I beam.
"Be safe." He replies. I stand up, grabbing my bag and skipping off the bus.
I go to a private school that's about forty-five minutes from my house taking the city bus. My dad pays big money to get me here, and I'm forever thankful for how hard he works to give me this opportunity.
I get to first period with three seconds to spare, sitting down right as the bell rings. "Good Morning, Class." My teacher says, and we all greet her back. She starts talking about our schedule for todays class, and I zone out and stare out the window.
I wonder how many licks it takes to get to the center of the tootsie pop. Has anyone ever really discovered the truth?
Lunch rolls around quicker than I expected, lucky for me.
I walk to the outside picnic tables, sitting down and placing my lunchbox on the table while I set my tote next to me.
I set my lunch I warmed up on the table, opening it excitedly. I finally took the time to back myself a bento box with Rice, Spam, seaweed, and some veggies. I even have a kool-aid, and some water.
I take the chopsticks off the side of the box, saying thanks before digging in happily to my food.
"Wow." Someone laughs from behind me. "She eats like a pig." She says, and I hear her friends laughing as well. I hesitate my next bite, stopping completely when they gather around the table I'm sitting at.
Mia, Jace, and Isabella.
My favorite people in the school.
