**Zara, Thursday**

"What're you doing here?" I ask Kade, who is standing on my front porch. "I mean, of course I don't mind. But my grandma is literally right int he living room, and she's scary and she'll get mad if she knows a boy just showed up with my dad not being home. She'll think I'm-"

"You left this in my car." He holds up my Wallet.

"Oh wowo, thank you, Matt-"

"Đây là ai?"
(Who is this?)

Fudge cakes on a stick she's here.

I turn around, seeing my grandma standing there with her arms crossed.

"Uh, Grandma. This is my friend, Kade. The one I talk about." I introduce. "He was just-"

"Vì vậy, bạn nghĩ rằng bạn có thể lén lút một cậu bé qua?"
(So, you think you can sneak a boy over?)

"No! He was just brining me my wall-"

"I was just brining her her wallet." He speaks up, and I glance back at him.

"She doesn't speak much Englis-"

"I speak English." She cuts me off harshly. "Who you?" She asks Kade with a disgusted look.

"Kade." He answers, staring at her blankly.

Dear good heavenly lord sky daddy, please don't make this worse than it is

"You no good for my granddaughter." She declares, and he stares at her in the same way.

Now who the eff-

"Grandma-"

"That's not your place to judge." Kade responds, and I nearly pass out.

I'm gonna die

Digging my own grave right now. And jumping in it. Then burying myself.

"You respect your elders." She says angrily.

"I respect those who deserve it. From what I've heard, you've done nothing to earn my respect."

Crying throwing up banging my head against the wall right now bro

"Leave my house!" She nearly shouts, and Zayn comes down the stairs in confusion.

"What's going on?" He asks in confusion. Grandma explains the situation (a very not-true version) in Viet, and Zayn raises an eyebrow and looks at Kade. "Come on, Grandma. We need to finish packing your things." He says, and she lets out a huff of annoyance before pushing past Zayn and waking toward the stairs.

We wait until she's upstairs, before Zayn and I step outside onto the porch with Kade.

"I'm so sorry, she just doesn't like-"

"Anyone that isn't Asian, honestly." Zayn cuts me off. "People like Zara and I, specifically. Mixed people. She doesn't think it's right."

I dislike her very much. If she ever asked me for a milkshake, I'd tell her no. I'd tell her to go drink water. That's how much I don't like her, Dude. No milkshakes for her.

"It's so terrible." I mumble. "Thank you for bringing me my wallet." I smile up at Kade.

"Let me take you out." He says, and I look back to Zayn who is smirking.

"I'm helping her pack her shit so she can leave. Go ahead and go." He shrugs.

"I have to shower and get changed. I've been helping out around the house since I got home." I tell him, and he stays quiet for a moment.
