Chapter Two-

Amber and Anabel took their tarts and orange juice up to the attic. Their attic was a dark, damp and small room, but after the girls cleaned it up, they turned into their own private girls hangout, Ryan was allowed to stay with them when their mum was busy and couldn't worry about him. But Anabel hated the attic, no matter how many memories they could fish out from there. Amber on the other hand loved going up there to look at pictures of their ancestors, pictures of her and her sisters when they were younger, and because of that, it sometimes led to bickering and fights.

"Don't you just love it here Ana." Amber said placing her snacks on the small wooden table in between the two wooden rocking chairs, which surprisingly were still in good shape.

"No, no I don't love it here." Anabel flopping down on the cushioned wooden rocking chair.

"Ana,why can't you just learn to accept life?"

"Well, my life sucks."

"Anabel! Don't say that!" Amber said dropping her tart on her plate and turning to the slightly upset twin. Anabel has always been known as the more stubborn twin.

"Why shouldn't I. I mean, c'mon Amber, can't you see that our lives are a mess?"

"Ana....."

"Save it Amber, we are really smart, yet nothing good has come out of it. We don't even have a social life like Ryan. I just want to go to school again. All I want to be an average kid who can't solve college maths. Because we're just Ryan's boring, smart, twin sisters." Anabel said, making Amber annoyed that Ana kept harping on the same thing.

"Okay, maybe everything you said is true, but everything will be alright." Amber said looking at her twin. "I know it will b-"

"Don't say it when you don't mean it." Anabel said harshly, holding back the tears.

"But I do mean it, Ana." Amber said, trying to comfort her crying sister.

"Really?" Anabel said, releasing the tears.

"Yes" Amber assured her and pulled her in for a hug. Anabel was usually the emotional twin, but Amber was always there to comfort her.

The twins cried, talked and dug around the attic, looking at pictures and laughing at how small and tiny they were. They stumbled upon a small wooden chest and on it was a delicate carving of two little girls on it, with a gold tiny lock.

Amber grabbed the wooden chest without fear; she was fearless. She was powerful. She had the power. And she was better. Better than everyone. Better than Ana, her supposed sister, better than Ryan, who actually had a social life. She could do anything. She was amazing. Amber had the power. She was... Flawless.

Ana was at the side, watching Amber with a feared expression. Amber had grabbed the chest, to most likely open it, but had frozen. But it was obvious that she was in deep thought, and Ana was ready to snap Amber out of her daze when Amber's mouth turned into a snarl.

Though no sound came out, Ana was scared. It seemed that Amber had lost control.

"Amber?" Ana squeaked, but she didn't mean to squeak. She hated when she squeaked, but that was the least of her problems.

"No, Ana. You do not respect me the way you should respect me." Amber's voice was different; cold, emotionless, and deeper than usual. "You never do. You always hate my things; I do everything for you! Yet you disrespect me constantly. I try to do everything in my power to help you, yet you make me miserable and tell me that your life is horrible. I feel I have helped you as best I can and all you have done is complain and get angry with me. I wish I could help you more than I have, because obviously, to you, I am useless. So do not even bother me at all. Do not even call me by my name. You have no RIGHT!!"

Ana was scared. She didn't have any courage herself. Amber was the twin that had the courage,

And Amber was the one that was corrupt.

What Ana didn't realize was that Amber was not corrupt; it was the chest.
