Chapter 6
Amber slumped down on the sink. She didn't understand, because, well, she actually did know what Ana was talking about, but the real problem was that she didn't want to acknowlede it.
Amber was way too tired to be thinking at this hour, since she was never even a morning person in the first place.
"Amber! Ana! I want to talk to you! I need to see something." Amber's mother shouted.
Guilt clenched her throat and scurried through Ana's mind. She didn't want to talk to her mother, for once in her life.
"Mum, you're going to have to come in here." Amber said with a bit of guilt. She was guilty that she lost Ana. "I'm on bedrest, remember?"
"Okay, I'll come in a few." Amber's mother said.
After a few minutes, Ava entered. She noticed the worried look on Amber's face and was immediately worried.
"Ana? What's wrong?" Ava said, striding toward Amber and sitting on the bed beside her.
"It's Ana." Amber whispered, as soft as a flower petal in the breeze. "She left the house."
"Amber. Why did she leave the house?" Ava asked sharply. Ava didn't know that Amber was on the breaking point. She didn't know that what she could say would either break or shape Amber.
But Amber couldn't hold it back anymore. She couldn't hold back anything, at least not anymore.
After Amber explained things, her mother became visibly paler.
"No. It couldn't have found me." Ava whispered.
"Mum, what are you talking about?" Amber asked, and though she was skeptical, she didn't push her mother.
Her mother got up, muttering profanities under her breath.
"Mum. Mum!" Amber yelled.
Ava could not hear her. She was in shock.
(mini A/N: You may or may not know what shock is. Shock is actually something that you can die from. Here is the definition: Shock— Shock is a medical emergency in which the organs and tissues of the body are not receiving an adequate flow of blood. This deprives the organs and tissues of oxygen (carried in the blood) and allows the buildup of waste products. Shock can result in serious damage or even death.<—— That's what shock is.)
A boy entered Amber's room, scaring Amber and Amber was not just willing to let it go.
"Amber, we have to go. I know that Ana's not here, but I need you to come with me." The boy said, and it frustrated Amber that he was so calm when her own sister's life was at stake. Or her soul, but still! The boy put out his hand for Amber to shake. "My name is Alex. I need you to come with me."
There was no way Amber was going without a fight.
Alex grabbed her hand, because when she didn't shake it, he felt the need to have skin to skin contact.
"No." Amber said, giving him her very best death glare; the one reserved for the ones that Amber could not stand, at all. She pronunciated every word with the same accent. "I. Am. Not. Going. And that is the end." She ripped her arm away from his grip, but he grabbed it before she could actually get away.
"Fine. Take it the hard way." Alex said, scooping her up off her feet and putting her over his shoulder.
"No! Let me down!" She yelled as she pounded on his back.
But what she was really wondering was how this boy, of no more than 17, could actually pull off carrying a 150 pound girl. Like she was a sack full of feathers.
Ugh. To Amber, he just didn't make sense.
"So now you know, huh?" He said, not knowing that Amber was not told at all, but she kept quiet so that he wouldn't know that she didn't know. "We'll talk about it once we get there, okay?"
But Amber couldn't keep quiet any longer.
"Know what?" She said in a quiet, small, voice.
He stopped walking midstep, and took her off his broad shoulders.
"You don't know, do you?" He asked, his violet eyes piercing her hazel ones.
She shook her head shamefully.
He made a frustrated gesture with his hands, which happened to be running his hands through his hair.
She took a glance at him unconsciously. Amber didn't mean to; it just happened.
"What are you looking at?" Alex asked confusedly turning around, in order to find whatever it is Amber was looking at.
"Oh, nothing." Amber said, blushing.
Alex smirked " Well, we've gotta go and-"
"No!, What about mum and Ryan." Amber screamed pulling her hand away when he tried to hold her.
"They're fine, Ryan's with Anan." He said grabbing her arm again. "Now, c'mon, let's go." He dragged her all the way to his car, Amber struggling to get out of his grip.
"Who the heck is Anan!!!" Amber shouted, but she couldn't shout so loud since her voice wasn't still back to normal.
He didn't listen to Amber until he put her in his car.
"Buckle up." He told her as he got into the car.
Amber did as she was told. 'Why am I doing what this guy says, I don't even know him or where he's taking me to' Amber thought.
"You know you can trust me right?" He said starting the car, as if reading my mind.
Amber rested her head on the cool window glass. "Hmmm, a guy I've never met before, kidnaps me and then he's asking me to trust him?" Amber said sarcastically.
"If I kidnapped you, you wouldn't be talking so freely with me." He chuckled.
Amber muttered a whatever. "I guess I'll just kinda trust you, if Ryan and my mum's gonna be okay." Amber said totally forgetting about Ana.
Amber shut her eyes for a few seconds and was out like a light.
