Chapter 13-

Ana's vision was blurry as she woke. She had a thin line of blood across her forehead from being whacked in the head with the branch.

She shook her head to try and clear her vision, but all shaking her head did was make it more blurry. In her blurred state, she could still make out a few shapes; a tree or two, a bush, the sun... the shadowed figure of a man...

Ana sat up immediately, although it was a definite mistake. Her head pounded and she was thirsty. Extremely thirsty. She felt like she had been knocked out for days and days.

The boy kneeled down next to Ana.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

Ana tried to answer, but all that came out was a croak.

The boy handed her a water bottle that she drank gratefully.

"T-Thanks." She stuttered. He gave her a half-smile, but that disappeared quickly.

"So..." He asked her. "How are you feeling?"

"Uhh..." Ana answered slowly. "A bit dizzy to tell the truth." She tried to stand, and almost fell back down automatically. She shook her head to try to clear the spots from her vision. "Okay. Maybe not."

This time it was a full smile.

"Okay." He said, still smiling. "My name's Anan."

The cat that Ana was riding on walked up.

"Oh my gosh, REN!" The cat perked up at its name and walked over to her. "You are the fluffiest kitty I've ever seen!"

Anan stepped back.

"No, of course. It responds to her in a single second and I have to go into the Owner's manual just to get it to listen and take one single command! Bleh." He muttered as he sat atop a rock. "Girls and Robot Cats. The perfect match."

Amber furiously packed everything she needed while Alex begged her to stay. Amber completely ignored him and ran upstairs to get Ryan, with Alex trailing behind her.

"Ryan get dressed! I'm giving you fifteen minutes and pack a bag. Don't ask why." She shouted and ran back downstairs.

"Amber, please listen..." Alex started, and Amber rolled her eyes for the seventeenth time that hour.

"What?" She snapped, turned around to meet his pleading eyes. "I'm not going to listen to you. I've already made my decision."

"You can't go." He said, as he frowned. His violet were eyes begging to her with all his heart and soul. "Please."

"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't go after my sister." She said, folding her arms across her chest.

"Because..." He started off, he couldn't make out the right words to why Amber shouldn't go.

'Because, I think I love you Amber. I don't want to lose you!' His thoughts screamed at him. They echoed and rattled around his mind, like they would never go away. But he couldn't say that to Amber, especially not to her face, so he decided to look down at the hard wooden floor instead. It was a very nice wooden floor, but just a wooden floor after all. It had a stain and finish.

She chuckled with bitterness. "I thought so. Makes sense." She turned away from him and started packing more things in her backpack.

"Hey sis, I'm done." Ryan said jogging downstairs. "Hey Alex."

Amber quickly finished packing. "Ryan, wait for me outside." He got up and eyed them for a few seconds before agreeing to go outside.

"Amber?" He called out softly.

"Give me your pocket knife." She said as she looked away from him. "Now."

"Please?" He asked. She put her hand out, as she expected the cold metal object to collide with her palm. It didn't. He pulled her closer to him, forcing her hazel eyes to meet his violet ones.

Amber's eyes were full of surprise. Alex's were filled with wisdom.

She shook her head, thinking that it might just be a dream. She looked down at her feet, as they both stood in silence for a few seconds, before she felt something being slipped in her hand. She looked down at her hand before looking up at Alex, his eyes filled with regret. She slowly grabbed her backpack and slipped out from the cabin, still clutching on to the small metal knife.

"C'mon let's go," She said, once she was out of the house and slung the bag over her shoulder.

"Amber?" He called out. "Are you okay? Anything wrong?"

She sighed before turning to her brother. "I'm fine, okay?" She said smiling. "Follow me." She walked towards the woods.

"Oh, Amber, one thing. Where are we going to?" He asked trying to keep up with Amber's pace.

"I have no idea." She muttered.
