1 week Later

Dear diary, life has been pretty normal (well as normal as life can be when you can turn into a wolf), my dreams haven't changed at all and I've barely had any. I've decided to ask Mike about them to try and find out more.

Ugh, this is stupid I hate writing diaries!

I went downstairs to find Mike and ask him, I knocked on his office door and he welcomed me inside.

"Hi, Jay! Whassup?" He asked

"Um, I was wondering if you had any information about my parents that I didn't already know." I inquired

"I don't think there was much information." he replied shuffling through his filing cabinet, "Ah! Here's your file. Uh, the only thing here about them is that they died in a car crash when you were 2"

What CAR CRASH?! They always told me that they gave me up.

"Car crash?! I was always told I was given up!" I shouted

"What's going on in here!?" Claire asked entering the room

"My parents died in a car crash! You lied to me! I should have known!" I yelled

"You were too young to have known! Plus it's not much better than giving you up is it!" she argued

"I should have known. They died! They didn't leave me!" I started to tear up. "I thought they left me all this time. You made me think they hated me. You made me think I had a chance of meeting them," I need to leave, everyone is always hiding something from me. "Goodbye, I'm getting out of here."

"Jay! Don't!" Mike yelled after me. All I knew was that I had to leave, call it instinct, I ran straight to the woods knowing it would make me feel better. They didn't leave me on purpose. They didn't want to leave me. I wasn't unwanted. Why didn't they tell me?!

"Ugh" I sighed carrying on running further and further into the woods.

It was almost pitch black by the time I decided to change into wolf form. Why didn't I think of this earlier it would have been so much easier! I shifted faster again this time taking about 30 seconds I was almost at the fallen tree that I had slept in previously and decided to sleep there for the night. I climbed in and curled up in a cosy circle before falling fast asleep.

I woke up to birdsong, I was surprised to find that I was still in wolf form. I exited the log and went to find the river. Reaching it in a matter of minutes I lap up some of the water and decide that it's time for my first-ever hunt. I let my instincts take over and knew exactly what to do. I listened out for the small paws and fast heartbeat of a rabbit and got ready to pounce. I pounced grabbed onto the rabbit and killed it instantly with my powerful jaws. I was never fond of meat but this rabbit was one of the best things I've ever tasted.

After finishing with the rabbit I carried on running away from where I had come from not sure where to but I knew I had to run this way. I carried on for the rest of the day stopping off to drink some water every so often. It was a fairly fun day surprisingly, I was still getting the grip of my new senses so this was time to figure out the limits. Once again I found a fallen log, larger than the other one, and fell asleep.

I woke up nose to nose with a fox. Startled I lept up and started running away, I knew the fox wasn't a threat but my human senses took over. I stopped running after a few minutes and looked behind me, surprisingly I saw the fox had followed me. I was about to run away again when the fox turned into a boy. The boy was around 6'1 and had dark brown almost black hair, he had slightly tanned skin and a fairly muscly build. What on earth?! Who is this? He's like me!

I ran up and sat in front of him, cocking my head I gave him a questioning look.

"Hi, there! I'm Rhys. Who are you? I don't think I've seen you around before." he asked. I gave a wolfy sigh and started to shift back.

"Hi, I'm Jay. Uh, where am I? I just kinda ran in a random direction." I responded shyly

"You're at shifting school. You're not meant to be here? You're not a human." he pondered

"Nah, I'm not meant to be here I just ran this way because it's what appealed to me most. Shifting school? So there are others like me?" I said trying not to sound too excited.

"You thought you were the only one?" he chuckled, "There's a few of us but not too many. Follow me I'll show you."

We walked into 'Shifting school', it didn't look much like a school at all. More like a collection of large tents and further away some smaller tents hidden away in the forest.

"I'd better go tell Matt about you. You can go explore or you can join me," he explained

"I may as well join you" I responded.

I followed him into one of the larger tents, down a sort of corridor and into what looked like an office.

"Hi, Rhys. What's up?" the person who I assumed was Matt asked, he looked at me before continuing, "Who's this?"

"This is Jay, I found him asleep in the woods. He's like us." Rhys explained

"Okay then. By like us what do you mean?" Matt questioned

"You know he can shift into an animal, a wolf actually," Rhys answered

"Okay, just checking that he wasn't a lost human or anything," Matt established

"Guess you can't be too careful," Rhys replied

"So, Jay, how'd you end up in the woods?" Matt asked

"Uh, I just ran in any direction I felt like and ended up here," I answered

"So you ran away from home?"

"Yeah, I guess. It's not really my home though" I replied, "I've been in foster care since I was two."

"Oh, anyways, we have some places free here if you wanted to stay. Obviously, you don't have to but you cannot tell anyone that this establishment is here." Matt went on

"If it's ok I'll stay for a bit," I don't even know who these people are! why am I trusting them!?

"Rhys, show him around and introduce him to some of your friends. I'll come and find you with the details of what we do here, so you can make a final decision"

A/N

So what do you think? I might rewrite the part where he has an argument and leaves home as I think it could be much better. I just had to get him to leave so the plot can move on, it's quite hard to make him get upset enough to leave without revealing too much about the future.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed it.
