Femi had waited a very long time for this moment in time. Everything he had done, all the power he had amassed was to eventually bring him to this moment and now that it was here; he wasn't sure how to react. He couldn't believe his ears when his secretary called in.... "Sir, there is a man here to see you"
"Chidinma you know very well that I don't receive visitors by this time of the day" he replied.
"I know sir, but he said you will want to meet him at once when you hear his name"
"Go on......"
"Okay sir. He said his name is the exiled one" Femi paused.... "Sir are you there?"
"send him up"
"Is there a problem sir" Lawal asked. He was seated on a sofa at the far side of the office just beside the minibar.
"More like an opportunity" Femi replied, grinning to himself firmly.
"Something I should know about Sir?"
"He's here"
"Who?" Lawal asked, standing up from the sofa.
"Ekun.... He's here.... in the flesh. And he'll walk through those doors any moment from now"
"Are you sure this is a good idea sir?" Lawal replied... "this is a man you have hunted for years. I don't think it is safe to have him lurking around your office without the necessary protection"
"Lawal... Relax!" Femi replied.... "you worry too much!" ...... "And besides, I have you here. What could possibly go wrong?"
Ekun walked into the office under the watchful eyes of the two men. The tension in the room was palpable. He stood and scanned the room for a while before walking straight to the desk where Femi was seated.... "Oluwafemi" he greeted with a smile... "you look well...... May I?" he gestured towards the seat in front of him. Femi was silent, his eyes burning with disdain. "Well seeing I'm always welcome here, I'll help myself." He sat down, unbuttoned his suit and crossed his legs.
"You don't seem so happy to see me Femi. And I wonder why that is"
Femi smiled.... "You're such a hard man to find"
"Yeah I get that a lot these days" Ekun grinned softly.
"And yet here you are. To what do I owe this pleasure?"
"Straight to business I see"
"I'm a business man Ekun____"
"Hillary......" Ekun interrupted him.... "I go by Hillary now"
"What do you want?" Femi asked, indignation creeping into his voice.
Ekun turned to Lawal, sized him up with his eyes, the livid scar across his face made him wonder how many men he had killed. He nodded sagely and then switched his focus back to Femi. "You want to have this discussion in the presence of a stranger?"
"Anything you have to say.... You can say it in front of Lawal"
Ekun sized him up again before continuing...... "My son. No harm comes to him"
"You have no right to make such demands!"
"He's a blue blood!"
"I don't care!"
"The honor code protects him___"
"I don't give a shit about the honor code!" Femi lashed out at him. "your son did not practice his skills before choosing to dance with the gods!"
"Does the coven know about this treachery you've planned? This treason?"
"And who is going to inform them? .... you?" And immediately, Ekun's countenance changed.
