*This chapter cover is from the game Obey me*
I am running.
I am running as fast as I can through the bright hallways.
Resonating through the enormous white castle is the sound of someone counting, with each number I can feel myself becoming more and more nervous.
My breathing so heavy and my heart pounding so loud that I'm afraid they're both going to expose where I am.
My eyes frantically scan the large doors inside looking for the best possible place to hide.
Then I see it.
I put my hand on the knob and check my surroundings before hurriedly opening the door, entering, then closing the door behind me.
With my back against the closed door, I close my eyes and take deep breaths to calm myself down.
-"Is everything alright, little one?" A deep voice says.
I look up and I am met with Lucifer's worried gaze from the opposite side of the room.
He is wearing a glamorous white and blue robe with the collar, the sleeves, and the shoulders traced with gold. The sunlight shines through the room's many windows and surrounds him with a heavenly glow— like a halo.
He is stunningly beautiful, truly a sight to behold.
He sits at his desk, with a quill in his hand and an ink pot near him, a large piece of paper was spread out on his desk.
Realization dawns on me, I am in his study, interrupting his work.
-"Everything is okay, Lucifer." I answer his question, "I just need a place to hide, that's all."
-"Ah, I see." He sighs, "I suppose you can hide in here, as long as you don't disturb me." He smiles gently before waving me over, "Come."
He then shuffles his chair to the side a little, offering a place for me to hide beside it and behind his desk, thus if a person stood at the door, they would be unable to see me.
I sit on the ground next to his chair, bring my knees to my chest, and lean my head to the side, against his long legs.
He strokes my head gently with one hand, and writes with his quill using the other, immersing himself in work while I silently kept him company.
That is, until the sound of knocking echoes through the room.
-"Come in." Lucifer says.
I then hear the creak of the door opening and the shuffle of footsteps inside. I can already tell it's the one person I'm trying to run away from.
I cover my mouth with my hand to prevent any sounds from coming out, fearing that I would somehow stupidly give away my hiding spot.
-"Hey, Lucifer." I hear a sleepy voice greet.
-"Hello, Belphegor. Is there something you need?"
-"Yes, I'm looking for Lilith, have you seen her?"
-"Why is that? Did something happen?"
-"No, not at all. We are just playing hide and seek, but I can't seem to find her. Do you have any idea where she might be hiding?"
My heart skips a beat with the anticipation of Lucifer's answer.
-"I'm afraid I don't know where she might be." Lucifer says in a neutral tone, and I feel my shoulders sag with relief. "Good luck finding her though, she has always been good at hiding." He then playfully nudges me with his foot, however due to it happening behind his desk, Belphegor is unable to notice it. "Now if you'll excuse me, there's some work I'd like to get done." Lucifer finishes, still in his neutral tone like nothing happened.
