Chapter 9: "Too early for this shit."

Me and Simeon walk side by side through the elaborate gardens of the large white marble palace; scents of lilies, orchids, roses, jasmine, and lavender waft through the air.

I take a deep breath and close my eyes, a smile itching on my face as I let the beautiful perfumes sink in, then I sigh dreamily.

Simeon gently chuckles beside me.

-"You seem to be really at peace, huh Lilith?" He grins.

-"Yeah, walking through the garden always manages to calm me down. It's really nice in here."

-"I agree. Say, would you like to sit here with me for a few moments? Enjoy the beautiful day a little more?" He offers, pointing at one of the benches in the middle of the garden.

-"Sure."

We sit on the bench together in comfortable silence, basking in the sun, and relaxing as the breeze blows through our hair; as if it is playfully greeting us.

I take a look around the garden, eyes wandering between its beautiful trees and flowers. I watch as a blue hummingbird flies across and lands on a Crocosmia.

Lucifer's favorite flower.

Seeing it made me think of him, think of how stressed out he looked in the past couple of days, working away at paperwork in his office.

-"Luci could really use some time here in the garden, maybe relax a little." I mutter as I continue staring at the Crocosmia.

-"Luci?!" Simeon turns to look at me, confused, "Oh, do you mean Lucifer?!" He questions, a little shocked.

-"Haha, yeah. I came up with that nickname for him a while ago."

-"And he was just okay with you calling him that?!" He widens his eyes at me, perplexed.

-"Mhm."

-"Wow. Heh, I guess he really does have a soft spot for you, huh?"

I giggle at that.

We then both hear the sound of footsteps approaching and turn to see who it is.

And as if my wish was granted, Lucifer walks into the garden, spotting us then walking towards our direction.

-"Hello, Simeon and Lilith." He nods at us in greeting.

-"Hey, Luci~" Simeon waves at him, a teasing hint in his voice.

I stifle a laugh as Lucifer's face falls at Simeon using the nickname I came up with for him.

Lucifer squints at me suspiciously then looks at Simeon with what could be considered a glare.

Simeon only laughs.

-"What?! So she can call you that but I can't?!"

Lucifer does not reply, he just continues giving Simeon a death stare, who has a playful smile on his face, throughly enjoying messing with Lucifer.

Lucifer clears his throat, choosing to ignore Simeon's teasing question.

-"Anyways, I came here looking for Belphegor. He has been gone for quite a while and I thought he might be possibly napping on his favorite tree."

Me and Simeon exchange a look.

-"Lucifer...uh- I don't think Belphie is here." I reply nervously.
