MINX (The Hobbit fanfic)

Nine ~ Run

I woke up to the sound of the two most annoying brothers in the world.

"Awwwwwh."

I get up, grow bigger and pounce on them both taking them down to the floor with me before I change back and just pin them down.

"What have I told you about going 'aww' at me?" I laugh and keep pinning Kili and Fili down until they manage to get me off. My arms get tired so I just flop down on their chests making them groan in pain.

"You just looked so cute snuggled up by the fire with Ty!" I look behind me and see Ty standing up with slightly pink cheeks.

"I will use any excuse to lay down in front of the fire." I chuckle before getting up and helping Fili and Kili to their feet.

"Come on, get your bags together. Thorin wants to leave soon. With or without Bilbo." Fili starts to walk away to find his own things and set up his pony. I take Ty to where we left our bags before I help him put his on then he helps me with mine. We stand outside with the others until Thorin kicks his pony forward, getting our journey underway. I change into a wolf with Ty and we walk side by side making some of the ponies nervous. I feel bad for them but they'll soon realise we aren't a danger.

"Minx! Can I-" I hear Kili begging again so I turn around and bark shutting him up before I jump a little, shifting the heavy bags strapped over my back. I see his face turn from disappointment to understanding. I swear he never resists the chance to ask me for a ride. Besides, it's Fili's turn next.

I trot up ahead with Ty to walk beside Thorin he smiles down at me and then at Ty who is slightly larger than me. He looks more muscly in wolf form as well. You'd never guess it from the loose clothing he wears. That is, unless you walk in on him cooking shirtless like I did when we were still at his hut.

"You two do make a fine force together. I am glad to have you Ty. I'm sure your strength is remarkable and as you two will most likely be doing a lot of fighting as wolves, I am certain that I can rely on you to be part of our stronger team. That would include, myself, Fili and Kili, Dwalin and yourselves. Normally I would have refused to let Minx or any lady come with us, but Minx is very strong and smart. She can handle herself perfectly well and I trust you can too Ty." Thorin glances over me to Ty who bows his head in reply to Thorin. I rub Thorin's leg with my neck and then turn back to walk with Kili and Fili. Ty stays ahead to listen to Thorin and I can't help but notice the glances thrown my way.

A small voice on the air makes my ears twitch backwards and I stop to look behind me focusing more on the tiny voice. After I stopped, Ty joined me and let out a small bark as the company realised a certain Hobbit had changed his mind. The company halts as Bilbo continues to shout at us to wait.

"Wait!" He finally catches up and I see a few of the dwarves smiling, happy to see him. Bilbo walks past me and Ty with a small nervous smile (as we are both bigger than him) and hands his contract up to Balin who takes out a looking glass to inspect his signature.

"Everything appears to be in order. Welcome, Master Baggins, to the company of Thorin Oakenshield." Bilbo looks chuffed while Balin winks at him and stubborn Uncle Thorin kicks his pony forward again.

"Give him a pony!" Thorin calls without even looking back. I pad forward again and walk beside Ty while watching as Bilbo desperately tries to get out of riding only to be grabbed up by Fili and Kili who place him on an extra pony's saddle. He looks super uncomfortable and I find it quite funny.

We carry on walking through quiet and peaceful woods for most of the day until the worst happens. Rain. Ugh. I hate getting my fur wet. Ty whines beside me and I know he feels the same. We flatten our ears to keep the water out and keep walking miserably on the damp ground. Kili and Fili ride beside us with their hoods up as they point and laugh at our dripping fur and hanging tails. I get fed up quickly and snarl at them telling them to move on and they keep laughing as they ride ahead to Thorin's side.
