there were a few things Mercy had learned about early on in life.
always check your clip. keep extra rounds in your pockets. keep concealed knives. and never let your ass hit the toilet seat of a mens bathroom. they are covered in urine.
one thing though, one particularly helpful bit of information, wouldve been the fact that museums are annoying. maze-like. it was as if she was being sucked into an Ikea with a large budget to spend. there was no end in sight, even after you go through the entrance.
she was perched up on a beam, looking at the little map shed taken from the front desk, and glanced down at the exhibit below her.
this was supposed to be an area for the ancient egyptians, instead she was looking down at contemporary and modern sculptures from some weird angsty artists.
she was becoming more and more annoyed.
the nightwatch had begun a while ago. Imani wanted this whole mission to be done with as little casualties as possible, and even went as far as to order Mercy to remain in the rafters.
Odysseuss had long since knocked out a guard, summoning his best english accent (which was shockingly really good) he took his stance nearest the case containing the knife. Ruby was waiting outside with andy, posing as a foodtruck so they wouldnt seem suspicious. the sun had gone down, and they were finally able to close the up the blinds and settle down.
Mercy glanced down, and over to the exits. she took the left one, her feet stuck firmly to the metal beam as she shuffled quietly along. the Guard had his nose buried in a magazine, not even paying attention to his surroundings. if Imani wouldve let her, she wouldve just toasted the men in here, and gotten the knife out in under fifteen minutes. Andromeda had already looped the cameras, no one would find out it was her.
she finally made it out to the hallway, and to the end of her support beam. bracing herself, she leapt forward, landing fairly quietly onto a second beam, and moving much faster towards what she hoped would be the right area.
thankfully, Odysseuss bulky form was easy to make out in the to small officers clothing, she leapt from the beam down to the floor.
another lesson she had learned.
Mercy was no good at flips or gymnastics. she wasnt able to agily land on the floor. no, she just let her body go limp in the hopes it wouldnt break her legs.
"agh!"
she landed with a thump on her back, her head beginning to pound from hard floor slamming into her.
"jesus!"
Odysseus leapt nearly a foot in the air, and then smacked his forehead.
"your supposed to be... subtle!" he whispered.
Mercy only glared at him, took the bag off her shoulder, and unzipped it softly.
"just shut up and keep watch." she said.
odysseuss checked his watch, mercy turned to the clear box, the display showed an ornately carved silver kife. the blade was half her forearm, the hilt was wrapped in what looked like fine leather, an amethyst jewel laid in the center of it.
"we arent here to gawk, cant you just finish your-"
"tsh!"
mercy glared at Odysseuss, and a flame appeared on the tip of her finger. it was thin, and white hot. she approached the glass, let the flame easily pass through the lamenated, bulletproof sheild, and slowly cut away. the smell of burnt plastic reached her nose and made her suppress a cough. black smoke engulfed her finger.
