Can't Catch a Break

The next day when Ross arrived, he kissed her then asked his dad, "did you watch over her or did you keep her awake all night snoring?" His dad snicker "I have never snored you on the hand sound like a freight train." Claude laughed, "you both snore, the house shakes at night from you!" Ross nudge him, "you may do a little of that to little brother." Claude smiled at Ross, I don't snore, you and pappa snore, I sleep. He whispered to Ross, but everyone heard him, "Eleanor snores but her is not as loud, there pretty!" Eleanor answered in mock indignation, "I don't snore it is called breathing," she smiled at Claude. Ross wished she would smile at him like that but all he got was the cold shoulder.

Dwight came in shortly thereafter, after examining Joshua, he said "well Joshua are you ready to go home?" Joshua whispered yell, "Hell Yes!" Claude eyes got bit, "Pappa yelled and swore, is he mad?" Joshua chuckle, "no I am happy to be going home with you. I can teach Claude how to ride." Dwight then told him he was not too overdue anything he needed absolute quiet and rest. He asked, "Claude I am sure Caroline will come and teach you would you like that?" Claude looked at his father, "Sorry pappa but Caroline is prettier." Joshua laughed, "a true Poldark," the told Dwight, "His nurse would manage everything." Dwight said, "well that may be a problem". Eleanor looked at Dwight side eyed she couldn't move her neck, "why?" Dwight said, "you have bruised your brain, and can you move your head?" Eleanor said, "of course I can?" Dwight said, "turn your head toward the window?" Eleanor tried as soon as she turned it a quarter of inch, she started crying she let out a "little gasp of pain!" Ross went to grab her hand, but she pulled it away. Dwight said, "that's why you are going to be on strong muscle relaxers and pain meds, and I want you here where I can keep an eye on you, if I didn't Caroline would leave me!" Claude came over to her and said to Dwight, "make her better now, I don't want her to hurt." Dwight said, "we will do what we can."

There was a knock at the door and Paul Daniel walked in. "Eleanor, I have to ask you some questions?" Eleanor said "okay." Ross and Dwight both said they wanted to stay. Paul said, "do you have any idea you did this?" Ross stiffened hoping she wouldn't implicate Elizabeth. Eleanor could see him stiffen so she said, "No Paul I have no idea." Ross visibly relaxed. She told him what she remembered leaving out the details that would bring Elizabeth in as a suspect." Dwight knew she was not telling the whole story and so did Joshua. Neither of them had any doubt she didn't tell him about Elizabeth because of Ross's demeanor. When Paul went to leave Dwight went with him. When the door closed Joshua said, "why didn't you tell him about Elizabeth?" Ross said, "Dad." Eleanor said, "that's why." Joshua glared at Ross. Claude said to Eleanor, "you should have told him about the witch, she tried to hurt pappa and now you, if Ross don't care I do." Ross told Claude, "Her name is Elizabeth, and she would not have done this." Dwight told Paul what Eleanor told him. Paul questioned him why she wouldn't have told him that information, he said, she did it for Ross didn't you notice how he relaxed when she didn't mention her? Paul said, "but to attempt to kill someone?" Dwight then told him it wasn't the first time and how Eleanor caught adding medicine to Joshua's pill regimen. Paul told Dwight "That they will get paint samples off Eleanor's car and try to match them with vehicles.
Paul walked out of the hospital and called the police headquarters. I need someone to go to where Francis's Poldark car was placed after the accident and see if there is any other color of paint in it in the rear. If so, take the Paint scraping and run it with the scrapings for Eleanor Cranes car. He had a hunch and he had to explore the possibilities.

Dwight sent the nurse in with Joshua's discharge papers, Ross told Eleanor, "I will take dad to Nampara and then come back." Eleanor said, "Don't bother!" Ross said, "what's wrong?" Eleanor said, "Joshua can tell you." Joshua looked at his son, "I am staying with Eleanor you can pack my items and ask Dwight to bring them in." Claude said, "me to." Joshua said, "maybe you can stay at Caroline's, it would make it easier to teach you!" Joshua got dressed, while he was doing that Ross kept talking to Eleanor, she didn't respond. Then Dwight came in with the nurse holding an IV and pain medicine. Dwight said, "Eleanor why did you not tell the police what you told me in the ambulance last evening?" Eleanor said, "why no matter what she does some people will always go to her defense after all I am an outsider." Dwight said, "you should have told them she was trying to kill you. If you didn't have the good sense to turn toward the cliff you would have gone over." Eleanor said, "what happened to her when she tried to kill Joshua, I that wasn't believed. Obviously, who cares if I am not here or not." Dwight looked at Ross. Ross said, "I care!" Eleanor just turned her head, "actions speak louder than words."
