Third-person Pov:
Paul and Marko walked into Max's video store to see Brooke standing at the counter playing with a videotape; They walked over. "We only here to watch one thing," Paul joked, and Brooke laughed."We brought you something to eat." Marko dropped the bag on the counter. "thanks, guys." Brooke smiled and moved it aside; They chatted about what had been happening in the shop or on the boardwalk.
"I think it's time for you boys to leave; she is trying to get work done," Max declared behind Brooke; Paul and Marko glared at him. "I'll talk to you later," Marko said; Brooke leaned over the counter and kissed him. "Bye, boys." Brooke waved her hand.
"Tell David and Dwayne; I said Hi." The boys shook their heads and walked out; Paul and Marko made it out to the noisy boardwalk. They walked to their bikes and waited until Brooke got off work for an hour.
An hour later
The four vampires got onto their bikes and drove to the video store. They parked in the front of the shop and walked in; Max and Lucy talked as Brooke was stocking a shelf. They circled the counter until they reached the blonde girl. Marko covered her eyes."Guess who?" He said. Brooke thought until she said, "Ummm, David," Marko rolled his eyes.
"Wrong one," Paul laughed,
"Then it must be Paul." Marko uncovered her eyes and spun around; she smiled and kissed him. "I was close." the others chuckled at the joke.
"What being blonde," Paul said.
"Maybe," she smiled.
They all talked and laughed until Brooke was off. "Well, I'm done for the night." she cheered; the boys were planning on taking her back to the cave for a while, but that was thrown off as her mom approached them.
"Come on, Brooke, time to go home." she said; they all looked at each other until Marko spoke up, "Actually, we would like it if she hung out for us." Lucy looked at "Sorry, She can't for tonight." Brooke Looked down at her shoes; Marko wrapped an arm around her; she looked at Marko and lightly grinned. "Mom, can you give me a second?" Brooke asked; Lucy shook her head and walked behind the counter, finishing something. "Boys," Brooke said; the others walked out of the shop, back to their bikes, and waited for Marko. "What up, Brookie?" Marko questioned; Brooke leaned on shelves.
"What are we?" She mumbled;
Marko thought and said, "I don't know why?" Marko was playing dumb as thoughts ran through his head.
"Did she find out about my feelings towards her? What if she rejects me and leaves me as the rest did." Marko was still caught up in his thoughts about the question she had asked that he didn't realize she was talking to him.
He blinked out of his thoughts and pretended to know what she was talking about. When Brooke finished talking, Marko looked at her cluelessly.
"Is he ignoring me? Maybe I'm annoying and clingy; damn it, Brooke, why do I always have to ruin everything." she thought to herself; Marko smiled at her and tilted her head up to look into his green eyes.
"What going through your mind, pretty girl?" Marko pulled her out of her thoughts, "I-I-" Brooke stumbled over words trying to form a sentence. Marko laughed "are you ok; you seem nervous." Brooke shook her head. "Yeah, I'm fine," she breathed out.
Marko looked at her, concerned "you sure? You seem off." Brooke kept shaking her head; Marko grabbed her hands into his leather ones that fit perfectly together. Finally, Brooke's nerves had calmed down.
"I can't call you until I get my phone back; my mom took it away since she didn't want us to talk." Marko shook his head. "She will have to do more to keep me away." Brooke smiled and went in for a hug.
Marko asked her a question he had been waiting for since they first met. "Will you be mine?" Marko whispered; Brooke gasped and looked at him. "You're being serious?"
Brooke couldn't believe it; her crush asked her the words she had been waiting for. "Dead serious, coming from a dead person," Marko joked; Brooke agreed. Marko smiled, lifted her, and hugged her, "I been waiting to ask you that." She smiled.
"I wanted to ask that since we first met." Marko knew she was his mate from the first night they met when Brooke grabbed onto his waist; there was an election shock. Marko knew that she had to his only he didn't know how to ask her, now here it is he asked and she agreed. He thought he would be lonely and never find true love when he first changed. But now he saw it; though Marko is half-dead, that doesn't bother Brooke.
Brooke's mom came over. "Ready?" Brooke smiled at Marko, and they walked out of the shop. Brooke talked to the others as her mom was locking the shop doors and said goodbye. "Alright, let go," Brooke waved goodbye and kissed Marko's cheek. Then, as they drove off, Brooke and her mom walked the opposite way.
Brooke Pov
Mom and I got into the van and began to drive home. "Brooke, I'm not trying to be a mean mom; it's just I don't want you to do something you regret," she explained; I looked at her."I know.....Mom, remember when you asked me what Marko and I were," she shook her head.
"We're dating," Mom looked at me and smiled,
"Is he a nice guy?"
I looked out the window "he's wonderful, just how dad was before-" I didn't finish my sentence. Mom glanced at me and then back to the road. "I'm happy if you're happy." The rest of the car ride was silent; as we parked, mom turned the car off, and I got out and walked inside.
I walked to my room, turned my light off, and hung up my jacket. It felt like eyes were on me. A hand touched my shoulder; I turned around.
