Brooke pov
Around sunset, I looked around the shops until I passed a dark alley. I heard little squeaks from some dark alleyway. Santa Carla wasn't a place for some altruistic stuff; people disappeared every day. But I couldn't get the sudden guilt off me, So I turned to this path."Hey, is somebody here?"

The squeaks stopped, and I slowed down a bit, carefully walking forward. Something small glistened in the dark. I stepped closer and gasped. "Oh my god," a bat on the trashcan hissed at me as I swore. I stumbled back when I noticed he was trying to fly away. His wing didn't move.

It just slumped near him and caused him a lot of pain. I should have called the animal service. "I'm so gonna regret this!" I mumbled, taking off my jacket. I was stupid enough to help this bat but not foolish to take it with bare hands. The animal squealed and yelped, flailing the healthy wing at me.

"Hey... HEY! I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU!" my scream seemed to help to calm him down. Maybe because the bats were oriented based on their hearing, my voice deafened him? If I knew more about bats, I could tell if this was true. I used the opportunity of the bat not moving to grab him with my jacket.

He screamed again, but I held him tightly, wrapping him in the fabric. "Little shithead, calm DOWN!" I tied the sleeves together. A tight little bundle was still wriggling in my hands as two angry dark dots looked at me from the layers of the messily wrapped jacket. "I am already regretting it." I can't see Marko tonight since I got a new friend to take care of.

Time skip
Once at home, I placed him on the couch while taking my boots off. It was chilly outside, so I closed the windows while at it. And that bat won't try and kill itself. I took the bundle and went to the kitchen. According to the eyes and hisses, the bat calmed down but was still angry as soon as my hands went near his face.

I put him on the table and looked at him strictly. "I'm going to unwrap you and look at your wing. I swear if you dare to bite me or flail your wing into my face, I will throw you out." I pointed my finger at him. The bat showed his fangs, and I took my finger away. "Do you want to be out when the day comes? I know you bats don't like it," strangely, it made him stop. For a minute, he didn't move. "Alright, You understand me, so we're on the same page."

I thought that was a good sign and started unwrapping him. But, again, the bat didn't move through the whole process. I helped him out of the jacket, and he stumbled a little on the table. Deciding that he would be suitable alone for a couple of minutes, I retrieved the first aid kit.

He sat on my jacket when I returned, piling it up like a nest. "Dude, you are perceptive for the bat," I scoffed, sitting near him. I rummaged through the kit, taking out everything I might need. When I was ready, I looked at him warily.

The bat looked at me back, and it seemed like it sighed, turning its wounded wing to me. "You almost understand me; it's scary." I took a bottle of alcohol to disinfect the wound. The bat hissed, but let me do that.

He smelled his wing afterward, and I decided to apply a bit more. He opened his mouth like he wanted me to pour it into him. "You are something, dude!" I laughed, gently smacking his head. He hissed at me but didn't move away from my hands, tending to his wounds. "Sorry, sorry, sorry," I mumbled through his squeaks until his wing was wrapped in bandages. I breathed out and leaned back on a chair, watching as the bat tried to adjust to his new state and move around a bit.

"Don't be problematic; it's the best I can do, what I am, a vet? Alright, your wound is next," he stepped back warily. "Dude, you need to get this fixed; I am not having a bat puking all over my room because of infection!" I tried to catch him, but he... "Shit, you little!" He bit me. This little shit bit me, and he was smug about it. His squeak was enough proof of his proudness over himself.

I groaned, grabbing some antiseptic and pouring it on his wing. We were whining from exhaustion and pain; I slowly put bandages on my hand, now bitten in three places. "Happy now?" I breathed out, fidgeting with the sticky side of a bandage.

Why did I decide to help this bat in the first place? I should have left him there; life would do its work. But, completely lost in thoughts, I didn't notice that the bat crawled. When he licked one of the bites, I shivered, surprised at him. "I won't feed you my blood, dude." he hissed at this, moving to me.

I watched him in amusement as he stamped on the spot, readying himself, until he finally jumped to my t-shirt, grasping the fabric and climbing up the best he could with one wing.

"You are a bat, not a monkey, you know," I smirked at this until he got to the neck of the t-shirt and tried to climb inside. "Really? I'm not going to carry you around." He ignored me, trying to get his way into my clothes. I sighed and just took him; he already bit me; why fear him? I put him in the pocket of my jeans, went to my bedroom, and let him out there.

Couple hours later
"You can't eat me, Dude," I took him off my arm several times over the past hour. "No! I will lock you in a closet; stop it!" But I couldn't refuse that it was fun. The dude was chirping, squealing, just grabbing everything he could with his healthy wing.

He was doing some tricks, holding something big to carry, grumping with his squeaky voice. I left for my bathroom for a couple of minutes. I realized I had left my balcony door open when I returned, and he got out. "Ungrateful shit," I mumbled to myself, shutting the door. I left the kitchen and got something to drink until I heard a loud thud.

I froze and took a knife from the sink. If someone wanted to rob me or kill me, at least I would go down fighting. I slowly and quietly went to the bedroom, opening the door carefully.

"YOU LITTLE SHIT!" he was halfway through the barely opened window. A thud came from him crashing into the half-closed glass, as was the trace on the glass. I groaned at the bat figure, frozen in my window and chirping something, and came closer to him.

Finally, I opened the window enough for him to get through. He landed on my shoulder, rubbing his head on my cheek. "Get off me, I sniveler; I thought you were going to rob me," I shoo him away and close the window, putting the knife down so as not to hurt the little man. The bat landed on the bed, looking at me almost thoughtfully.

"You need to think better next time, and I was worried that you would be eaten by a cat or blinded by the sun. And now you are safe. Shithead," I pet his head, sighing, but smiling. My heart finally was calm at the realization that he was safe.

"Never do that again. Deal?" The bat transformed in a black smoke puff in just a moment. "Deal," he winked at you. Oh hell, "Marko!" I yelled at the blonde vampire.

"That's my name, cutie," he got off my bed and came close to me; I looked down at his hand wrapped in a bandage. "What happened?"

"I was trying to find you on the boardwalk; I got tired of looking for you, and I flew into a building instead of flying around instead. Then you found me, and I wanted to see how long I could last in bat until I turn back."

"You're real funny," I said and pulled him close, "I'll take you out tomorrow, your choice." he said, "Deal,"
