Ch 6

It had been a few days since this routine had been going on of Eren quietly coming into Levi's room and doing his revision of all the subjects. Eren was trying to ask Levi as few queries as possible, and at one point, Levi had started to notice that he was not asking for his help as frequently now.

Levi was getting anxious as to why Eren didn't talk to him as much as he did before. Or rather than getting anxious he was getting furious, thinking that maybe Eren is not taking his promise seriously or as such.

During one of their sessions, when Eren entered the room after school had finished, Levi decided to confront Eren about this matter. But before he could do so, Eren said something that pissed off Levi even more.

"Levi sensei, i think i'll just go to the public library from now on and study. I know you have been very patient with me and that I've taken much off your time. So thank you, and i'll really will try to do my best in the finals"

Eren turned around and was about to leave the room, when Levi came and pulled him back by his collar which startled Eren. He was surprised as to why Levi did that, and was about to ask him, but Levi replied first in a stern and annoyed manner, but not to be confused with him being angry particularly.

"Oi brat, you're right, I have been patient. Why have you been so quiet all these days, did you turn into a genius overnight. It seems you don't really need my help now do you?"

Eren got flustered and quickly tried to come up with an excuse.

"W-What?! No, that's not why- the reason, i just- I um, the thing is"

"Stop stuttering and get to the point"

Levi said this in a calm manner, but it became quite obvious to Eren that if he didn't tell Levi things exactly the way they are, it would make Levi suspect him even more.

Eren hesitated but didn't want Levi to doubt him, so he answered him in a cheerless way, while awkwardly rubbing his neck.

"I just, I didn't want to trouble you with my questions and I thought that because you're already counseling me, it's taking up a lot of your time.

I wanted to try working hard on my own."

Levi gives a big sigh, feeling a bit guilty by what he had said to eren, but he was still a bit annoyed,

"You know that I'm your teacher, you're supposed to ask me questions. Who the hell told you that you have to worry about all of this. If I really felt that you were bothering me I could have kicked you out any time I wanted."

Even though Eren felt a bit relieved at this statement, his heart still sank when he heard Levi say that he's his teacher. While it was still true, Eren didn't like that reminder. It made him give up all hope of being with Levi and trying to make him happy.

But this made him realize that as long as he is Levi's student, Levi would never see him in any other image. Eren originally thought that as soon as eleventh grade would get over and he would get his desired percentage; he would confess to Levi about his feelings.

As stupid and unreliable as this plan sounds, he wasn't planning on receiving an answer from him, as he knew that he had almost no chance of being together with him. But he didn't want to accept that fact. He didn't want to think that there would always be a zero percent chance for him. It would crush him to even think that.

But now, he came to a conclusion. He thought that since Levi would refuse his advances in any case, and he was sure that one of the reasons he would use is that Eren is his student, he decided to wait until he graduates. Though even with that, he knew that he would still get rejected,  but he wanted to raise his chances, even if it were only by a point one percent.

After a moment of all this thinking, Eren finally spoke, but he wasn't scared now.

He tried his best to speak in a confident tone and not to waver,

"Levi sensei, I get what you mean. But in all honesty, I feel a lot of guilt when I remember that I'm the one that always receives from you. And no matter how many times you reassure me, that's ok. I'll still continue to feel that way in my mind.

I can never thank you enough for the guidance that you have provided me, and would still love to have counseling with you if you allow it... it is going to be my final year in the school now, and I want to spend my time (with you) carefully."

Eren immediately started to feel embarrassed again and clumsily excused himself and went running out of the room down the hall.

"...This brat, he never ceases to surprise me with his responses."

Levi said to himself, giving off a soft and relaxed smile.
