Ch.8 Lets Take a Walk

I woke up in our hotel room staring up at the ceiling. Everyone had surrounded me and Kendal and her parents were asking me questions that I couldn't understand.The room was spinning and I was so confused.

I whispered to Kendal,"How did I get here?"

"Remember Maria, we crawled out of the water after being lost at sea!"

"We did?"

"Yes, we did!"

She turned to her mom and said,"She's still a little loopy from the trip!"

I wanted to tell them that I wasn't loopy at all and that I knew what was going on. My head hurt too much in order to tell them that I wasn't loopy at the moment so I just stayed quiet. When Kendal's parents left Kendal started jumping up and down.

I said,"Kendal what are you so happy about? Are you even aware what is happening?"

"Yes, of course, but I fixed the thing with my parents. Now they are too worried to think about the new key!"

"Okay now lets discuss how we are going to keep the key from Calon and Corona,"

"Sorry, but I don't have any ideas on how to stop them,"

"Okay well maybe they just won't bother us. After all they are still under the sea in their bat cave!"

Kendal laughed and said,"Okay lets get you comfortable,"

She fluffed my pillows and went to get me a class of water. Kendal suggested that if we take a walk if might help to clear my mind and help me regain some of my balance. When we walked out of the room there was a boy at the end of the hall and he kept staring at us. Kendal did one of those things were she tried to twirl her hair and make herself look like she was interested.

I said,"Kendal we are here to take a walk not to ...."

Before I could finish a boy with brown eyes, black hair, and a really bad tan walked up to us. He said, "Hey, my father owns the resort!" He stuck out his hand and we both shook it. It was kind of awkward because when I went to shake his hand Kendal and I both got to it at the same time.

He said, "Are you going to the arcade?"

My parents told me to never talk to strangers, but he seemed pretty ordinary. I didn't want to tell him because I thought he might try to stalk us. Kendal obviously had no problem with it and she told him that we were going to take a walk around the resort.

He seemed excited and said,"Oh great I can show you all of the special features of the hotel!"

Kendal laughed one of those fake laughs that she laughed with all boys who she was interested in. I whispered,"Kendal you don't need another boyfriend,"

She smiled and said,"Maybe I do!"

"No you don't!"

Kendal opened her mouth to respond, but the boy interrupted.

He said,"We should start walking before the sun goes down,"

Kendal said,"Okay!" We walked out of the door just in time to see the sun set.
