"how were your runs?" "Here boss" the men placed their bags on the desk "no issues?" "None" "good. Go get some rest" all the men saying the same, they left the office. 'argh all I want to do is sleep. Its been a massive day' Bronx picked up the bags and put all the money in the safe. Leaving the office, he entered his room. Seeing jaylah still asleep, Bronx moved to the closet. He can't be sleeping in his usual while jaylah is in his bed. Replacing his jeans with his track pants, he then moved to the bed and laid down gently trying not to wake jaylah.
Waking to high pitched screams, Bronx flew out of bed grabbing his gun. Realizing they are coming from jaylah as she slept, he moved around the bed. Gently shaking her awake, jaylahs eyes showed fear as she tried to move away "jaylah I'm not going to hurt you. You were screaming in your sleep" jaylah kept her eyes on Bronx as his hands sat up flat, showing he wasn't a threat. Her mind registering, she closed her eyes. Bronx moved back and jaylah calmed her heart rate "I'm..I'm sorry" jaylah moved to lay on her side again, pulling the covers over her head as she let the tears fall.
Bronx was stunned that jaylah apologized. She didn't need to apologize. He doesnt even know what she is apologizing for. As he watched her pull the covers over her head, he moved around the bed and placed his gun on the bed side table. Taking a seat on the edge, he ran his hands through his short tousled black hair. He doesnt know what to do to help her. Usually if someone crosses him, he doesn't have a heart and just kills them but now he's dealing with jaylah. She was innocent and he had to save her. As he laid down, he stared at the roof. What can he do to help? How often have these dreams occured?. He will have to go see Rey, emit and Clyde tomorrow. They are in that wing of the cells.Opening her light blue eyes, Jaylah laid still. She's not sure if she can move. The night was rough and she has no strength. Needing the bathroom, jaylah slowly sat up. As she looked around, she froze. 'Bronx has been sleeping in the same bed'. There he lay asleep behind her. Jaylah looked at how she could make it to the bathroom without waking Bronx and with out falling. She knows it won't be easy but is determined. Jaylah stood up with shaky legs. Standing on the spot for a minute, she put one foot in front of the other than put the other to Infront of that. She knows it could take some time but she can hold on until she gets there. "jaylah" as Bronx said her name, jaylah froze and Bronx rushed out of bed "you should be resting jaylah" "I need the bathroom. I'm trying.." "let me help" jaylah turned her head to look at Bronx "please. I don't want you doing any damage. If you fall, it could hurt you more" jaylah knows that. That's what happened yesterday. "Okay" Bronx immediately picked her up and carried her to the bathroom. Placing her infront of the toilet, jaylah waited until Bronx had left and closed the bathroom door. As she slowly sat down, she pulled her pants down and did her business.
'she was going to walk the entire way to the bathroom just to not disturb me?' Bronx doesn't want her causing any injuries to herself. He knows she probably feels helpless and wants to try but it's a risk to her health. As the door opened up, Bronx looked at jaylah and walked her way. When he picked her up, he carried her straight back to bed. "Thanks" "it's fine jaylah" Bronx moved from the bed to the closet and grabbed his clothes before entering the bathroom and had a shower."Boss" "men" "rough night?" "Very. I need to go to the prison. Is Sally around?" "In the kitchen Bronx" Bronx internally grinned as he walked to the kitchen. "Sally can you.." "I'm making some breakfast, I can take jaylah some" "thanks" "you should eat too" "I will" "breakfast?" Bronx shook his head "busy. Bye" Sally grinned as Bronx left the kitchen. 'That man never eats breakfast'.
As Bronx arrived at the prison, he got out of his car and walked inside.
"Boss" "Clyde how has it been in here?" "Running like clock work" "the two new prisoners?" "Quiet" "good. I have a question. Did you deal with jaylah?" "No. Kia, Rey and emit" "where are those two?" "Back room" "right". Bronx walked to the back room and opened the door. Emit was asleep but Rey was sitting up with a coffee. "boss" "Rey. You dealt with jaylah?" "Yeah.." "tell me. How many nights did jaylah wake with screams?" "I can get her file" "good. Have you slept?" "Yes Rey and Clyde took night shift" "good. You are holding up okay?" "I'm fine boss. Struggling to come to terms with the jaylah situation but the others deserve it" "and emit?" Bronx could see the hesitation in Rey as he looked at emit "not great. Jaylah is.." "connected with kalem and kalem and emit are close" "yes" "I will speak with kalem" Rey showed a slight nod as he grabbed out jaylahs reports. "just hand it to me Rey" "sure boss".
Bronx opened the file looking at all the information "what is this Rey?. It says she received extra whippings. For what?" "Kia. He had it in for her boss. I tried pulling him away many times" Bronx swallowed hard as he looked back at the file. "Eighteen nights. Great" "is she holding up okay?" "No. This is why I am here. I need to help her and I can't if I don't know the extent" as Bronx looked over the rest of the file, he then closed it "how much of this has emit done?" "Clyde, emit and I didn't do much boss, kia always wanted to" "wanted to?" "Yes" "hmm I will visit those two before I leave" "the file?" "I'm taking it" "okay boss" with a clenched fist, Bronx left the back room. 'kia wanted to?' this is not okay in Bronxs eyes. Walking down the corridor, he looked at Casey with an evil stare. "Bro.." "do not address me" as Bronx stood in front of kias cell, kia was sitting against the wall with his head down "KIA" kia looked at Bronx with no emotion in his eyes "tell me why you always wanted to hurt jaylah and gave her extra whippings?" Kia had a sly smirk on his face "the bitch deserved it" "so does your sister" with hearing this, kias face immediately change to anger "SHE DOESN'T DESERVE IT" "SHE KILLED MY SIX YEAR OLD NEPHEW. SHES LUCKY ITS ONLY FIFTY A DAY. MAYBE I SHOULD UP IT" "NO. PLEASE, I CANT HEAR HER SCREAM ANYMORE" "but it was okay for you to give jaylah extra?" Kia put his head down "no boss" "exactly" with that Bronx walked up the corridor to Clyde. "When did you sleep Clyde?" "I will sleep when emit wakes" "good. Do you need anything?" "Nah we are fine boss" "alright. Take care Clyde" "you too".
Arriving back at the house, Bronx knew he had to speak with kalem about emit but his main concern was to check on jaylah. Entering the room, Bronx looked around. Argh maybe in Sally's room.
Bronx moved to Sally's room and opened the door. "Bronx" there was Sally standing in the room, with a book in her hands "where is jaylah?" "She was in your room Bronx" okay now this worried Bronx. He didn't see her in there. As he walked back to the room, he entered and closed the door. Seeing the bathroom door shut, he sat down on the bed.
Jaylah stood in front of the mirror looking at her poor health and body. As tears travelled down her face, she put her clothes back on with a struggle. Jaylah turned the tap on and rinsed her face with Luke warm water then turned the tap off and dried it before taking a few steps to the door. When she opened it, Bronx stood up. "Jaylah" "bo.." jaylah was unsure what to say and how to address him "hi" Bronx heard the hesitation in her voice "Bronx, jaylah. Let me get you back to the bed" jaylah showed a slight nod. Bronx picked her up and carried her to the bed. "Have you ate?" "Yes" "rested?" "Yes" Bronx nodded as he knelt down "I want to know what you were sorry about through the night" this caught jaylah off guard. She wasn't expecting a question like this. "ahh.. for waking you" "you have no control over those dreams jaylah. Do not apologize" jaylah showed a slight nod "okay" jaylah only apologized as she thought it was the right thing to do.
