BTS Dorm Seoul – July 2015
Kim Taehyung absolutely despised packing. As he listened to Girl Generation's newest album, he tossed his belongings mindlessly into an open suitcase, not really making the right effort to fold anything. The group would leave to Sydney in the following morning for the '2015 BTS Live Trilogy Episode II: The Red Bullet' tour. Taehyung's favourite part of being an idol was performing for ARMYs around the world, but along with that blessing came the burdens of packing, unpacking, piles of seven boys' unwashed laundry (the smells needed a narrative of its own) and always leaving something important behind (like forgetting the gift he picked for his mum back in Malaysia). There was only so much he could remember when he was running on few hours of sleep and endless rounds of practice.
Taking an undeserved break, he left his room to see what the members were up to. Jungkook and Jimin sat in the living room, their eyes on the television while their hands mindlessly sorted clean socks. Namjoon was also present reading a book, his luggage already packed and ready in the hallway. As usual, Taehyung thought to himself, and he followed to sound of humming into Hobi's room. Hobi stood above an open suitcase on the middle of his bed. He held a pencil to his lips and carefully looked through the items on his list, checking if he had forgotten anything. "Clothes – check; boots, slippers and flip-flops – check; shampoo... conditioner... mhm... " he murmured to himself, checking items off the list.
"Hyung, can you help me with my packing, too?"
Hobi turned to see the maknae at the doorway. "Again, Tae?"
"You actually enjoy this," Taehyung argued. "If you think about it, I'm actually doing you a favour."
"How thoughtful," Hobi said with a smile; of course he wouldn't say no to Taehyung. "I'll get to it when I'm done with my own." He opened his mouth to say something else when a loud call from the living room interrupted him.
"Hyung, the show is beginning, hurry!"
The older boy dropped what he was doing and dashed off to sit a few inches from the television, in a speed Taehyung couldn't even comprehend. With a heavy sigh, he headed to the kitchen to get himself some flavoured water where he could hear the excited chatter of the boys. It was probably the new reality show from JYPE.
"They have to choose between Ji-Hyo and Jeongyeon for a leader? Ooo, that's going to tough," he heard Hobi discuss.
"Jeongyeon would be an amazing leader," Jimin suggested in a timid voice.
"Nayeon-sshi is so beautiful," Jungkook said dreamily, as Taehyung stopped to look at them on the way back to his room. "She's my ideal type."
Taehyung smirked. "Jungkook-ah, you said that about IU sunbaenim last week."
The maknae's eyes widened in realisation. "Oh yeah, no one beats IU sunbaenim."
Hobi turned his face away from the television. "Taehyung-ah, come watch with us. It's the last few episodes, so it's extra exciting!"
"I'm good," he declined and entered his room. Deciding to lay down his belongings so Hobi could pack them up easily for him, he began with the despised chore, music playing in the background. The thought that they'd probably do some hiking while they were there stopped him and he clawed through his closet to find his favourite pair of hiking boots. As he rummaged through the back, he finally spotted it sitting in its box in a dusty corner. He sat down and reached for it, but his eyes caught something else of interest. Behind the box was a scarf. The same scarf she used to keep their snowman warm. A pregnant sigh left his mouth as he threaded his fingers through the soft wool. He of course thought about her; it hadn't been that long. He would always expect her at the playground whenever he went, but she never came. In an effort caused by desperation, he even sneaked around the neighbourhood she said her dorm was, but never saw a glimpse of her. He couldn't inquire about her or search for her; if the public found out, an exaggerated scandal would be created immediately.
