I.S.A.C. Goyang Gymnasium (Seoul) – August 2016

Chou Tzuyu didn't have any coincidental encounters with Kim Taehyung this time; she made sure of it. She avoided him, and his members, like the plague. She didn't look at him, not even once; not even while she stood only an arm-length away beside him as they took their oaths on behalf of their idols present before beginning the competitions.

Her face would fool anyone, nonchalant and expressionless.

No one would see through the facade. No one would see the feelings she was trying to suppress. No one would hear the loud and paced beating of her poor heart. No one would realise how sweaty her palms became while standing beside him or the struggle she was going through while she was delivering the oath was not just only because of her stage-fright.

Tzuyu locked eyes with him once, when BTS was preparing for the relay. But she immediately turned away, pretending as though she was unfazed.

As an idol, it was one thing she had learnt to master; hiding your emotions.

.....

Twice Dorm (Seoul) – September 2016

Tzuyu's fingers hovered over the keyboard of her phone, her screen displaying her chat with Taehyung. It was the 5th of September, two days since the death of his grandma. The news came to her when she overhead a few GOT7 members talking about it in the practice room. What was worse was knowing that the BTS members were not even in the country; they were on tour in Manila, which meant Taehyung wasn't around his precious grandma during her last moments.

Tears stung her eyes as she sniffled, recalling the conversations she had with him;  he spoke of his grandma highly and often mentioned that she almost raised him. The delight his face would show when he told Tzuyu about the sweets she spoilt him with, the hikes she took him on, or the songs she would sing to him, made Tzuyu's heart flutter. A death like this would break Taehyung, she was sure. Anything that was happening in his life in Seoul, from what he ate for breakfast to when he won any award, he would tell his grandma about it. Their closeness and bond was unexplainable, and Tzuyu couldn't imagine what he would be going through at this moment.

She did the mistake of putting herself in his shoes and wondered what she would feel like if her mum (since she had that sort of a relationship with only her mother) passed away, and just the thought put her in deep sorrow. Tzuyu wished to know how he was doing and if he was eating. She wondered if he would make it to the funeral. She prayed for his safe return and for his strength. Her heart wished to be there for him, the same way he was there for her at her lowest moment in life. What she went through was nothing compared to what he would be going through now. Just the thought of losing someone she cares about made her heart feel heavy. There was nothing more Tzuyu wanted that night than to hold Taehyung in her arms and comfort him, the same exact way he did.

Blinking away her tears, she took a deep breath and typed away on her phone. If her consolation couldn't be done physically, she would at least try with her words. Pushing her pride and hurt aside, she did what she had to do as his friend.

Oppa, I heard about what happened. I'm really sorry for your loss. I know how close you were to her. Please do take care of your health and eat well. This is difficult and this is an unbearable pain, so don't shut yourself in. You have so many people who love you and are here for you. I wish I could do more for you. I've been thinking about you continuously. I pray for your strength and your family's. If you need anything, I'm here for you, Taehyung Oppa.

She lives on in your love for her, in your kindness that she taught you and in your same, lovely smile that you both share. She's in a happier place, without sickness, without struggle, without any distress. She in now in the care of your Angel.
