If you feel like this is still not enough and need to grasp the concept of the story better then feel free to go back a few chapters, I would recommend reading from chapter 22 because that is where majority of problems begin to go down. Enjoy the chapter!

Evan's father eyed me. He pulled out a chair from one of the many corners of the dimly lit room, sitting down and trying to make himself comfortable.

I was still seated on the bed, my hands clamming my knees and trying to give myself any sort of comfort I could offer.

He cleared his throat and began speaking

"As you know, by now, things have changed and the conditions requiring the marriage between you and my son have been terminated"

The way he spoke sent chills down my spine. For a moment I had forgotten about our so-called marriage arrangement, I was too in bliss with what I had with Evan to even care.

"Wh-what do you mean terminated?"

"I mean your parents. Originally your marriage was supposed to strengthen both our enterprises but because of their highly illogical actions, you're assets no longer needed"

My eyebrows quirked up at the grown man seated in front of me. I had been ambushed, drugged, and kidnapped all because he believed I was a threat to Evan.

Part of me was astonished about how much effort he put into this, just to tell me to leave his son alone.

But I guess he was right in doing so because there was nothing that could make me want to leave Evan. Nothing.

And the worst thing about this whole thing was it didn't matter, I wouldn't be staying away from Evan no matter what was transpiring between his and my parent's businesses. What we had was separate from the business agreement, it had been for a long time now. I believed my feelings for him were genuine and couldn't be broken because of a single contract.

"I don't care if the conditions have been breached"

I sighed before wrapping both arms around myself.

"I- I love Evan. So whether or not the contract that's keeping us bound to each other has been terminated, it doesn't matter to me and I know it doesn't matter to him either. I still want to be with him and he still wants to be with me"

I made sure there was no room for argument in my tone. The words from that stranger still resonated in my mind, he might have told me that Evan didn't care about me anymore but that wasn't true. I knew Evan, and regardless of what these people were trying to feed me, I wouldn't believe them until I heard him say the words myself.
