You were never really a party girl. You always preferred staying in—especially in Gotham City. This wasn't the kind of place where people came home the same way they left.
But your best friend wouldn't stop begging you to come out. Eventually, you gave in.
The club was called Purple Rain. It was huge, buzzing with neon lights and energy—but the place reeked of drugs, sweat, and sex. Not exactly your scene.
You sat at the bar, nursing a drink, already feeling out of place. Something about the air felt off... like you were being watched. You glanced around but couldn't spot anyone.
"Girl, get up off your ass and come dance," Destiny said, popping up next to you.
You sighed. "Do I have to?"
"Yes!" she gave you that don't play with me look. "I didn't drag you out here so you could sit there looking lonely. Get up and dance!"
Her motherly tone worked. You finally stood and joined her on the floor. And to your surprise, it was kind of fun—until that feeling came back. That someone-watching-you kind of feeling.
And then you saw him.
Green hair. Pale skin. Piercing blue eyes. Blood-red lips.
Normally, you'd flip off any guy staring at you like that. But there was something about him. Something hypnotic. You couldn't look away, and he wasn't looking away either.
"What are you looking at?" Destiny asked, nudging your arm.
"Him," you whispered.
"Who?"
You finally pulled your eyes from his and looked at her. "The Joker. He was staring at me."
Destiny looked at you like you'd grown a second head. "I mean, look at you. Why wouldn't he be staring? We should go over there."
"No. He's scary," you muttered in a small, unsure voice.
"Girl, c'mon," she said, already dragging you toward the private booth.
Two massive guys blocked the entrance.
"Excuse me," Destiny said sweetly. "My friend noticed the Joker was staring at her, and she wanted to confront him."
"No, I di—" you started, but she slapped your hand.
"Yes, you do," she hissed through gritted teeth, still smiling like a pageant queen.
"Uhh... let me check with the boss," one of the men said. "Oh, and I'm Jonny. What's your name?"
"Destiny," she answered, grinning and blushing. "And this is my best friend, Y/N."
Jonny smiled. "Nice to meet you, Destiny."
A beat passed. The music pulsed in the background.
"Oh, and you too, Y/N," he added quickly. "I'll be right back."
As he walked away, you turned to Destiny. "Girl, what was that?"
