Comforting Protection (Movie Eggman & Movie Shadow)

So this takes place 3-4 months after the events of the original Sonic Movie, The government decided to make as close to a perfect copy of Sonic so they could use the copy to capture Sonic and study him for science, from that Shadow was born. The humans in charge of Shadow mistreated him and did all kinds of painful tests on him basically treating Shadow less like a living creature and more like a tool.  Eventually Shadow had enough of this and ran away, eventually he stumbled across Eggman and Agent Stone living in a remote town and after a while of hanging out with them Eggman took Shadow under his wing and let him live with them, the two forming a father-son type relationship kinda like Tom and Move Sonic.

Dr. Robotnik or Eggman was sitting at his computer late at night, he knew he shouldn't be up this late but he had to finish some reports. Stone had gotten on his case multiple times about him staying up too late and even the red and black hedgehog who had been living with him had started to be concerned over the mad doctor's sleep schedule. Eggman had just finished up the reports and was barely able to stumble over to the couch and passed out as soon as he laid down.

30 minutes later

Eggman was woken up by a bright light he sat up half asleep but there was nothing there. He assumed it was just a hallucination and laid back down, just as he is about to go back to sleep he heard the screams of terror.

???: "NOOO! NO PLEASE! STAY AWAY! NO! AAAAHHHH!"

Eggman felt his stomach drop, that scream came from Shadows room. Eggman ran upstairs as fast as he could almost tripping up the stairs, Eggman had two scenarios in mind, one was that Shadow was having another nightmare, the second was that Shadow was being attacked by something or someone, the second possibility scared Eggman beyond words. Eggman threw open the door to Shadows room, the light was so bright that Eggman had to shield himself from the light with his arms. The light died down just enough that Eggman could see inside Shadows room. Shadow was having a nightmare all right, one of the worst ones yet. Shadow was violently tossing and turning in bed, the covers had been completely kicked away at this point. Chaos Energy was glowing around Shadow in a electric aura, Shadow was gasping like a fish out of water and he was crying hysterically. Shadow's eye's were a glowing endlessly red void, the exact same color as Shadow's eye's. Shadow's stripes were glowing brightly, Eggman hesitantly walked over to Shadow and went to touch him on the shoulder.

Eggman: "Shadow calm down! Your dre-ACK!"

Trying to touch Shadow on the shoulder had resulted in Eggman being electrocuted by the out-of-control Chaos Energy. Eggman knew that trying to touch Shadow was out of the question so he had to ether talk Shadow out of it or wait for the nightmare to be over. Eggman knew that he had to talk Shadow down, he couldn't stand to see Shadow in distress any longer.

Eggman: "Shadow your dreaming! Calm down! It's okay!" 

Shadow gasped and woke up, shooting upwards in bed, his eyes clouded with tears and the red void filling his eyes had disappeared immediately.

Shadow: "E-E-Eggman? It-is it really y-you?"

Eggman: "Yes, it's me Shadow. Just try to calm down, you had a nightmare but it's going to be okay."

Eggman walked over to Shadow, Shadow was shaking uncontrollably with tears streaming down his cheeks. Shadow's stripes were still glowing, Shadow scooted over to Eggman and snuggled into the human, burrowing his head into Eggmans chest, wrapping his arms around Eggman and holding him tightly. Eggman wrapped Shadow up in a hug, gently rubbing Shadow's back and rocking him back and forth slowly. After a few minutes of that Shadow had started to calm down, color had started to return to Shadow's face and he had stopped shaking and crying.

Eggman: "How do you feel Shadow?" "You okay?"

Shadow: "Yeah...I'm okay..."

Eggman knew Shadow had trauma from his past mistreatment by humans and Shadow did have nightmares in the past that either Agent Stone or Eggman had been there to comfort him for but he had no-idea that the nightmares were getting this bad.

Eggman: "Shadow...this nightmare has been the worst one yet. Have you...have you been having nightmares and not telling us?"

Shadow felt a pit of guilt form in his stomach, he had been having nightmares for weeks and not telling anyone. Shadow didn't want his new caretakers to think he was weak or flawed so he had hid his nightmares and that had been going pretty well up until now. Shadow's ears drooped with guilt, Shadow sighed, this was bound to happen sooner or later.

Shadow: "I...yes. I have. I didn't tell you because I didn't want to make trouble for you or be weak because then you might not like me anymore...I-im sorry..."

Eggman felt his heart sink with sadness, he didn't want Shadow to suffer and felt like an idiot for not realizing that he was in pain sooner, Eggman sighed and lifted up Shadow's chin so the two were making eye-contact.

Eggman: "Shadow you didn't make problems for anyone.  If you feel sad or afraid that is NOT weakness, that's normal for everyone. You will always be the strongest person I know, okay bud?"

Shadow: "Okay...thanks Eggman. I guess I needed to hear that..."

Eggman: "Your welcome Shadow."

Eggman smiled and released Shadow from the hug, then he took off his coat and drapped his jacket over Shadow's shoulders. Shadow yawned sleepily and shuffled towards Eggman sleepily, hugging Eggman and resting his head against Eggmans chest, Eggman smirked and scooped Shadow up in his arms before laying Shadow down on the bed and covering Shadow up with the bed covers giving Shadow a little pat on the head as he stepped away from the sleeping hedgehog. Shadow curled up in bed and fell fast asleep, Eggman trudged over to his room and crawled into bed, falling fast asleep.

In the Morning

Shadow yawned, sitting up in bed. Shadow was confused as to why Eggman's jacket was draped over his shoulders but then Shadow remembered the horrible nightmare last night, and Eggman comforting him. Shadow yawned and got up out of bed, heading downstairs to see what was for breakfast. Shadow found Eggman sitting on the couch flipped through various TV channels. Shadow sat down next to Eggman and handed him back his coat.

Shadow: "Hey Eggman, where's Stone?"

Eggman: "Oh, Stone went out to get breakfast."

Shadow: "Okay, cool."

Eggman: "Are you okay?"

Shadow: "Yeah I guess..."

Eggman: "If you don't mind me asking...what was your nightmare about? You don't have to answer if it's too painful."

Shadow: "No, it's ok. I...my nightmare was...that I woke up in a glass tube and it was really dark, I couldn't see you or Stone anywhere. I tried calling out to someone but I wasn't getting an answer. Then...the scientist's came, I couldn't see their faces. I demanded that they tell me where either of you were but they didn't answer me, they only laughed..."

Eggman: "And...then what?"

Shadow: "Then...chain's came up from the floor and chained me down, then you and Stone stepped into my view...but it was all wrong. You guys were just starting at me coldly and wouldn't help me no matter how much I begged...a saw started to come down from the ceiling, but no-one helped me...you guy's didn't say anything, I heard a voice talking from all around me, it said: "You belong to us Project S." Over and over again, Right before the saw could touch me I woke up..."

Eggman scooped Shadow up in his arms and hugged him, Shadow hugged back.

Eggman: "Shadow...me and Stone aren't going anywhere. We'll always help you, I'd never let those scientist wannabes hurt you! And if they did try...I'd send my robot army to kick into next year!"

Shadow grinned and laughed at that, he knew now more then ever he was safe, safe from the ones who had hurt him and happily cuddled up in his protectors arms. After a while of them laughing and talking together, Stone came back with breakfast for all three of them. The trio had a great day together and Shadow forgot all about his horrible nightmare.
