My Introvert Days

Heart-Break

We were all 8th graders. Me, my bro Greg, Karter ,Nasir and Patrick were all in the same class. During our usual days we came to school and mostly wiled away time by doing Dead-pool comics or stickman comics in the back benches, As the exams were two/three months away and we all were the last minute crammers.

But on one certain Wednesday's afternoon break, he came and introduced Alyssa to our gang.

"Hey guys, from today onwards she will be in our group. Her name is Alyssa." was what he said to us while we were battling over Karter's sandwiches.

We were pretty shocked so we took Patrick to the side to question him.

"Hey Patrick, you gone crazy or what. We have a no girl policy right!" said Karter with a serious face we'd never seen before.

"No girl policy?" asked me and Nasir cause this was the first time we heard something like that.

She stood there staring at us while we were questioning Patrick.

"Let's ask her personally what she wants with us." declared Karter.

"What do you want with us and why are you fooling Patrick. Tell me now!" yelled Karter. We quickly pushed him aside and Nasir told him to zip his mouth.

"You open your mouth and yell nonsense like that again and I'll fling you like last time" warned Nasir.

As we talked with Alyssa we found out that she was similar to us somewhat. She had no close friends in this class and her only friend was some girl in the opposite class. And she had just asked Patrick if she could be friends with all of us.

"umm....give us some time to think." said Nasir as he tried to pull me back to discuss further.

"No! No! No! Denied, No girls allowed. This is bachelors only group"

"Shush! Karter, Sorry Alyssa. We'll give the reply when the next class ends." assured Patrick as he closed Karter's mouth.

We did give her an exception and let her in our group. Later we found out that she was a smart intelligent girl who beat us all when it came to studies. For one week Patrick spent all his time with her. We didn't want to bother asking him why cause his intentions were clear as day to all of us.

It was obvious that he held feelings towards her and the way she talked with him in a very friendly manner was obviously giving him misunderstandings.

We all knew that Alyssa just wanted to be good friends with him but Patrick kind of went over board cause he spent every break with her.

During our PE classes usually we went to the ground to play cricket together but after meeting Alyssa, he stayed back at school to play "Treasure Hunt" with her, I don't know the details of the game but this was what she called it.

Even during lunch breaks he'd bring her to our table to eat together. Nasir felt disturbed by it cause we usually shared all our lunches, but he felt embarrassed to do that in front of a girl.  

Two weeks went by like that and on the first day of the third week, Monday we witnessed something which made us all dumbfounded.

Patrick for one whole day didn't go to Alyssa and he kept ignoring her. Whenever we mentioned her name he'd show a disgusted face.

"What happened Patrick? You don't want to talk to your Girl-Friend today" said Nasir with a sarcastic tone.

"Nothing happened bro. Plus she isn't my girlfriend" protested Patrick.

We did keep asking him as to why he kept ignoring her but he always replied with a "nothing happened!" but one day when me and Karter kept pushing him to tall a proper reason, he spilled the truth.

He told us that he got her number from her and he sent a normal message to her and she never replied back so he started ignoring her.

He might have told that to us but we weren't fools who'd be stupid enough to believe that.

"Then what happened actually ?" said Cedric with a eager look on his face as we were narrating Patrick's story.

"It is obvious right. He got her number, proposed to her through chat, she denied his proposal, he got dumped ,he cried his eyes out that day and on the next day he started ignoring her. End of story." exclaimed Karter while he pushed Cedric's bag down and sat on his table.

"Why did you push by bag down! It costs more than your life you fool."

"come on, just a bag right."

"Enough! stop fighting like little kids already" said Nasir as he got irritated from their yapping while interrupting his talk.

We all agreed with Nasir's reasoning cause that much is pretty obvious. No matter how many times Patrick denied our investigated conclusion, we all went with that reason.

We did tease him a lot back then but we didn't bother him much after 2-3 weeks since then.

"End of Patrick's love story" said Nasir as he ended his narration.

"Applaud! Applaud! What a good story I got to hear today." Cedric said as he pushed Karter's bag down as payback.

 And now Adam here was about to do the same thing as Patrick. We did want to stop him from going through what Patrick once experienced. 

Hence the long flashback of Patrick was narrated by us all but he still didn't want to change his mind so we gave up on trying to advice him.

"Let him do what he wants." Karter said as he took his Mathematics book out as the bell for the next class had rung.

The day went on like usual for all of us but Patrick had a hard time cause we reminded him something which he had tried hard to forget.
