Chapter 1

TRIGGER WARNING

Sophie walks into addies office
"Ugh my day is so boring, no one is sick or dying" the petite cardio surgeon was hanging upside down on addies couch.
"You know it's good that people aren't dying right?"
"I need a drink. We are going to joes tonight, your all coming"
"Sounds great, we're in" both Callie and Arizona chimed in at the same time
"Uh I don't know, I'm not up for it" addie sighed
"Addie, i love you but I'm not a fan of sad and boring Addison. There is no way I'm third wheeling, no offence guys"
"Fine I'll come" addie said admitting defeat
"Yay! Oooo someone's dying, gotta go" Sophie rolled off the couch and ran out addies office. Addison stared at Sophie as she ran down the hall.
"So Addison, when are you going to jump her bones" the peds surgeon giggled
"Wha- no I don- what makes you think that"
"You're totally in love with her and she is so in love with you. Both are you are too blind to see it" Callie said
"Okay okay I like her but I doubt she feels the same. I mean she's perfect, she could have anyone, no way she'd want me"
"Bull Addy, she loves you"
"You think"
"Alright well we have work to get back to, you should ask her out" Arizona and Callie got up and left, leaving Addison thinking about the brunette.

Later at Sophie's appartment (she lives across from Arizona and Callie)
Sophie stormed across the hall to Arizona and callies place.
"I have nothing to wear. I'm so not going"Sophie sighed as she spread out across the floor
"What are you on about, you ha-" Arizona was cut off by Callie hitting her arm
"Ow what was th- ohhhh" Callie gave her a wife a look
"What are you guys doing" Sophie looked up the couple with confusion
"You totally like Addison, come on let's find you something to wear" Arizona grabbed Sophie's hand and pulled her off the floor, dragging her back to Sophie's place.
"I do not like Addison"
"You so do, now spill"
"Fine, I do like her, I like her a lot" Sophie flopped onto her bed. The blonde rummaged through Sophie's closet.
"Here wear this, she'll love it" Arizona turned to face soph, holding up a red dress.
"I love it, Thankyou Arizona" Sophie finished getting ready and headed to the bar.

At the bar
"I'm bored, dance with me Addie" Sophie didn't give the redhead much of a choice, she grabbed her arm and dragged her to the dance floor.
"I love you Addison Forbes-Montgomery and I totally get if you don't feel the sa-"
Addison put her fingers to Sophie's mouth
"Your rambling Sophie, I love you too"
"Wait really, you're not ju-" Sophie started to ramble again but addie cut her off
"Will you be my girlfriend Sophie"
"Yes, yes"

Few days later
Sophie was sitting in the attendings lounge catching up on post-op notes when Addison, Callie and Arizona burst through the door
"What's wrong. Someone tell me what is going on" They all sat around Sophie
"Soph, your brother, tommy, he's in the hospital. He's been shot"
"No! NO. That's no- no your lying. Stop lying!" Sophie got up and tried to run out the door, Callie grabbed hold of her so she wouldn't leave.
"Let me go. LET ME GO! Pleas-" Sophie collapsed in Callie's, tears streaming from her face. Addison walked over and held onto Sophie.
"Sophie your parents are also here" Sophie looked up at Arizona.
"GET THEM OUT OF HERE, I don't want to see them. No! They are going to hurt me!" She got out of callies grip and crawled to the corner of the room, she started to hyperventilate.

A few hours later
Sohpies brother had passed away and the police wanted to talk to her.
"Sophie, I'm very sorry for your loss but I have to ask you, did your parents ever hurt you?"
"My father has been sexually abusing me since I was born. I've been homeschooled my whole life, so I never knew that what he was doing to me wasn't okay. I always assumed it was just what dads did. When I turned 12 people would pay him so they could have sex with me, this is when I started to figure out none of what he had been doing was normal. I went to my brother one night and he had been doing random house jobs for people to earn money, we made a deal that when he turned 18, we would leave. I think I was around 13 when my parents started doing drugs, this is when they started psychically abusing me, he would call me a fat pig, whore, he told me I deserved to die, that no one would ever love me. I started starving myself so that maybe I could get out of there sooner, I hoped I would get thin enough that I needed to go to the hospital. It didn't work, I just ended up with an eating disorder instead. Finally I turned 16 and my brother turned 18, we got out. My parents were high on drugs, so getting out was easy, my brother picked up the car he had bought and we left. I haven't seen my parents in 6 years and I have no intentions of seeing them again."
"Thankyou Sophie, your parents are going away for a long time. Is there anything else you want to add before we leave?"
"Umm just before me and brother left, I found the tape recordings they had. They video all of the sexual assault, I still have them if you want them"
"That would be extremely helpful, I'll have an officer come and collect them. Here is my card, if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to call me"
"Thankyou"

3 weeks later
I haven't left my bed since he died, I've  hardly had anything to drink or eat, I know I've lost weight and my phone died about 2 weeks ago. I can hear my friends knocking on the door trying to see if I'm okay, but I don't have the energy to get up. I was about to go back to sleep when I heard my front door open, it was addie, Arizona and Callie.
"Soph, I'm coming in okay?" Addison made her way into the bedroom.
"Ohh soph, I've been so worried, we had to beg the landlord to unlock your door for us"  addie crawled in bed next to the brunette, meanwhile Arizona and Callie searched Sophie's place.
"Callie, there's no food here apart from a packet of unopened crackers, she's not eating." The couple become even more worried. Arizona checked the bathroom and what she found made her cry.
"Ca- Callie in here" here voice was shaky
"What's wr- oh god"
"She's hurting herself Callie" the blonde fell into her lovers arms and cried. They decided to go into Soph's room and talk to addie.
"Hey addie, I need to talk to you" Arizona stayed in the room while Callie talked to addie
"Addie come look in the bathroom"
"What, why"
"Just look" Callie had a sad expression on her face which worried Addison
"Oh god, sh- she's hur- hurting herself" Addison turned around, tears formed in her eyes. She paced around the bathroom
"What do I do Callie, we can't do nothing"
"We go talk to her Addison" they walked back into the bedroom and turned on the light.
"Sophie, we are going to wait in the lounge, so we can talk okay, can you come in there. Sophie just nodded her head.
The once bubbly cardio surgeon got up and made her way into the lounge, she forgot she was only wearing a singlet and underwear.
"Sophie, you should have called us instead of cutting yourself. Are you eating"
"I'm fine, you can all leave now" Sophie turned around and walked into the bathroom. She locked the door and slid down the wall onto the floor. She just started crying, she needed her friends and girlfriend but she didn't want to be a burden. All three it then started knocking on the door, trying to unlock it.
"Sophie please open the door" Addison was crying, she couldn't lose her girlfriend.
Sophie crawled over to the door and unlocked it, she went back to her spot.
"I'm sorry, I need you addie, I need all of you, I just don't want to be a problem."
"Hey look at me baby, you will never be a problem to any of us, we all care about you okay?" The redhead looked at her girlfriend with nothing but love.
"I just don't know what I need right now. I know I can't keep doing this forever but I can't let it go right now, it's the only thing that helps with the guilt"
"Sophie what guilt are you talking about"
"my brother. It's my fault he's gone, if I hadn't left when I was 16, he would still be alive. My parents weren't looking for my brother, they were looking for me, they wanted to kill me. Tom and I promised to protect each other and I failed him. I don't deserve help, I don't deserve to live"
"Baby no. Don't you ever say that okay? What happened was not your fault, there wasn't any way you could've know. You deserve to live and get better." Sophie laid down in her girlfriends lap and cried.
Callie and Arizona came in and joined the couple on the floor
"I'm going to be honest with you Sophie, when I was 14 kids would bully me about my weight all the time, so I starved myself. I got an anorexia and my parents tried everything to help me. It didn't work because I wasn't ready to get help. Now we can give you all the help in the world but unless you are ready to get better, it won't work. So until your ready, we will be here okay?" Callie had never shared that before but it seemed to help a little.
