Their Daddy Issues

Karl and Sapnap  have been friends since childhood. They met when they were both in childhood,thanks to the close relationship on the part of their parents. But despite this,they were very different.

Karl was a silent and reserved child,he loved spending time with friends and had excellent grades in school.

Sapnap spent most of his time with his best friends,George and Dream,having fun going to various parties and creating disasters.

The only thing they had in common was one:their Daddy Issues.

Karl's father was never home. When he was little he had gone on an important business trip,on the other side of the world,and he had not yet returned. He knew he had a father,thanks to tales of his mother and albums and family photos,but he had never met him,and he had missed every important moment of his life.
His mother was rarely present at home, due to her work. He was a doctor and therefore spent most of his time in the hospital. Result? Karl spent most of his time alone.

Sapnap's parents,on the other hand,were in a different situation...
His mother was never there,she went out every night to go to some party,and any excuse was good for cheating on her husband as she was unhappy in their marriage. The father because of this situation,became more and more violent and did nothing but drink,taking out his anger on his son.

Theirs was not a good situation,they both felt a lack of love. And neither of them know about of the other's situation,they discovered it random.

It was the day to take their parents to school,and the children ran happily accompanied by their parents. Except two small figures who were alone.

Sapnap sadly watched the children play with their parents.
"Why dad can never be like that?"
He wondered to himself as he sat on a swing in the garden.

"At least you have a father. You know,you should treasure all the moments you have with him,you never know when he might leave"
Karl,beside him,spoke.

"As if he really loves me..."
Sapnap answered.

The children remained silent,looking at each other after the little exchange,both surprised by the other's responses.
In their eyes you could see the bitterness and sadness of never being able to be enough for their parents. And they understood that someone like them was there,and that they were not alone.

They were 6 when they realized the pain.

Karl and Sapnap were walking together on their way home from school. Once again their parents had not come for them because they were too busy with work. Luck wanted that their homes were a few minutes walk from the school.

"I never understand what their problem is...well,it's not asking too much to get along. I can't stand their scream anymore..."
Sapnap said. His family situation compared to a couple of months ago had improved. His father was no longer a drunkard,and his mother had decided not to go out every night. But all they did was yell at each other.

"I know they bother you...who knows how it feels to have both parents....even if as a situation it doesn't have to be the best"
Karl said.
