Skylar's POV
I sit against my locker as my dad talks to us but I tune him out, Im already pissed off about Coach who's been calling me nonestop but also at my my father who's not coming to my mothers funeral
I put my practice stuff away and pull out my list for the funeral, I only have a few people coming and that's Donavon, Shawn, Patience and Ms.Baker said she's coming along with Spencers mom
"Skylar......you listening" I hear my father say, I look up to see him and the team looking at me, I put my list away and don't respond but just stare at him
"I said are you listening" He says again
"I'm listening.....Coach" I say and he nods and continues on his no drinking rule which obviously I fucking know not to do I mean I have a lot going on
He dismisses us and I pick up my things and start to head out but I feel a hand grab my arm causing me to almost swing but I don't when I see it's my dad
"Whoa whoa, calm down" He says and he lets go of me, I let out a breath and put my arms down
"You have been so distracted lately, what is going on" He asks and I scoff
"It should be obvious, I got a funeral to plan by myself, I have a new school I'm still adjusting too as well as my father still hiding me and Coach won't stop calling me to you tell me.....why have I been so distracted" I say aggressively causing him to sigh
"I'm sorry it was a dumb question.....I know your still grieving your mother as well as some issues with Coach who I'm guessing has made you antsy lately" He says and I look at him before looking away
"I saw the bruise Skylar.......did he hit you" My father says angrily but quietly as all my teammates file out
"No........he pinned me to the wall, he's been more aggressive with me since I've been with you" I say and my father nods before pulling my head down and kissing my forehead
He looks at me and gently guides me to the car with him, I open my phone to see that Layla sayin that she's good with the study session, I text her and then open up Shawna message about his interview
I congratulate him and he says some shit is goin down so I need to watch his daughter, i text him I'll be by shortly and tell my dad to drop me off at home
We get home and I instantly run to my car and hop in before driving off to Crenshaw, I arrive to Shawn's and he and Coop come out along with my beautiful Godduaghter who's knocked out
"Look at my princess, come here baby" I say as I take her from Shawn along with her bag and everything and her car seat
"Thanks man.....take her out of here for a while I'll call back and watch out for that Coach mothafucka, he been waitin for you to come back up here" Shawn says
"Yea I will, we goin to go eat maybe so y'all be safe man" I say, Cool just walks off and I shake my head at her and Shawn looks at me and nods before hugging me and leaving
He knows about Coops little stunt and he put her in her place about that shit since I'm his family too, I get in the car and put the car seat and put her in before driving off
I arrive at the place the team hangs out at since JJ invited me out with him, I arrive and get lil ma out the car seat and we go in
"Aye Sky wants up.....oh who's the baby" JJ says causing me to laugh a little
"This my goddaughter, have to watch her for a bit but it's cool she's not a hassle" I say before looking at the now awake little girl in my arms
"Cool well comes sit man" He says and I smile and get a kiddy seat and put lil ma in there before sitting next to Asher
"Yo Skylar I heard your moms funeral is coming up so do you mind if I go" JJ says and I smile at him appreciative
"Yea man thanks......y'all ready for South Hampton" I say and Jordan looks at me questioning as he sips his drink
"Yea I'm ready I mean it's your old team so are you" Jordan says
"Hell ya, I love Donavon but I gotta whoop his ass" I say smiling causing the guys to laugh a bit
We joke around a bit and Spencer comes to the table but I notice Asher is quiet
"So Sky.....who you takin to homecoming" Jordan asks, I sigh sadly before shrugging
"No one man I'm goin solo, no girls wanna go with the girl with a dick so" I say shrugging, we all chuckle a bit at that as Spencer comes
"Well I mean it is kinda weird" Asher says and we all stop laughing and look at him
"I mean it's how I was born so I can't really control that" I say and he laughs a bit and I look at Lil ma to check on her before looking back at him
"What's funny" I say seriously and Asher turns to me with a smug smile
"It just funny how you think that matters, no girls want you especially not Layla" He says and I raise my eyebrow at him
"Yo Ash chill" Spencer says and the guys nod
"What I'm just sayin she's got no chance, especially since Layla has me" He says smugly and I let out a laugh and look at him
"Yea but maybe it's not enough.......she may have other options" I say and his smile falls
"How about you learn your place because your still the freak of the team" Asher says as he gets up, I get up too but soon I'm push back by Spencer
"Yo y'all it finna do this at my job, Chill out" He says and I just nod and get my stuff
"Ima just leave since the man with the big ass ego wants to ask all high and mighty but in reality......he just useless on the team" I say before picking up lil ma and her this game nod heading out
I walk out and see Layla and Olivia sitting outside but I avoid it and head back home, I've had enough and lil ma needs more attention
I get back to the house and head upstairs to my room, I sit lil ma on the bed and look at her as I squat down in front of her
"I wanna play aunty" She say and I smile and nod
"Let's play lil ma" I say and she smiles and pulls me into a hug, I hug her back and we pull away and start to play
This is the peace I need right now, this little girl reminds me of me and I need to be there for her, I need to be her peace
A/n ok so I understand that theses chapters are all over the place a bit up bear with me I have to do a lot for the next few things happening so I'm sorry for the bad chapters, I hope it gets better
