It didn't took long for the team to arrive at the hospital. They walked through the doors and a nurse came up to them to tell everyone that Dana was just brought to surgery, she was responsive and talked to the doctors before they went into surgery. Because of suspicion of bleeding internally in her stomach Dana got a few emergency tests.
The team was sitting in the waiting room hoping for good news.
Emily started to fidget with her fingers and she was biting her thumb nail, JJ noticed that the brunette couldn't sit still so she took the hand of her friend and put it in hers. The two friends were both seated next to each other and Emily was so exhausted that she put her head yet again on the shoulder from JJ. They stayed like that in silence.
Derek was comforting Penelope because by now she was in tears and lightly sobbing about one of her favorite nieces. Pen brought a basket full of Dana's favorite snacks and little gifts so that she has something nice to wake up to.
Reid was reading in silence in a corner of the room. He didn't know what to do. Hotch and Rossi decided to join boy genius in the corner and they all just sat there in the waiting room. Hoping for good news.
No one from the hospital was giving updates on how the surgery was going, they didn't even know why the kid even needed surgery to begin with. It was all very unorganized.
Finally after a while, a surgeon walked up to the group. "Family of Dana Prentiss?"
Emily stood up immediately, "Yes, I am Emily Prentiss, that's my daughter. How is she?"
" Okay hello I am Dr. Grey and I operated on your daughter. Everything went very well." Emily let go of a breath that she didn't know that she was holding. It was relief.
"Dana had broken her lowest ribs which caused to puncture her liver. We got the bleeding under control and she didn't suffer from any other 'major' injuries and with the circumstances I have to say that your daughter is very lucky, well physically. We don't know how she will recover mentally."
"Thank you so much doctor grey! Really. When can I see my daughter?" Emily was eager to see her child.
"She has been brought up to room R408, it is on the fourth floor."
And with that the team grabbed their jackets and their bags and they made their way up. One thing that didn't go unnoticed by the team was that JJ and Emily were still holding hands, given the circumstances everyone decided not to say anything about it.
A nurse said that the child was still resting so only two people could go in, of course were Emily and JJ. The rest waited in the hall.
I saw my mother walking through the door of my room, it was the face that I wanted to see the most but right now I couldn't look her in the eye. I felt disgusting and hurt. So I just kept looking at my hands and my wrists with my scars. They were really visible and it just made me feel uncomfortable.
JJ walked in right after my mom but she just gave a sympathetic smile and she took place in the chair that was right in the corner.
My mom just pulled me in for a hug and she kept repeating, "I am so so sorry."
"It is not your fault you know."
"Well it feels like it is, because of my job I almost got you ki-"
"So Dana how are you feeling?" Dr Grey walked in looking at the chart not realizing she cut my mother of. "Oh if this is a bad timing I could come back later."
"No no, please stay." Emily didn't know what to say to her daughter so she figured that the doctor could do the talking.
"Oh well actually I would like to speak to Dana alone please"
