Destiny

Chapter 3

The next few days were rough. I couldn't sleep, I barely could talk, and on some occasions, I couldn't breathe.
For most of the time, though, I wasn't thinking about the king and stuff capturing me. I was thinking about Chris. What would we think? Would he have been shocked if he found out that I had escaped? And without saying goodbye.
Over the past few days, I learned a lot about Byron. I learned that he won many awards and was very popular in his school. I asked him various times but he would never tell me.
I heard Byron's voice and his hands on my shoulders. I shot up out of my deep sleep. "What?!" I said rudely.
"It's time we go hunting," he said. "We only had berries and nuts in the last few days. It's time we had meat."
I got up and stretched. I wasn't attractive at all.
Byron gave me a bow and arrow. I poked my finger at the tip of the arrow. My finger started to bleed. "Ow," I gasped.
"Are you okay?" Byron asked in a baby voice.
"Stop!" I laughed and I threw some dirt in his face.
We tussled around and we fell on the ground. We laughed like crazy. We grew silent and looked at each other. It felt so romantic. I leaned in to kiss him but he stopped me.
"We just met," Byron said. "Let's focus on hunting now."
I nodded, got up, and brushed the dirt off my pants.
"Maybe some other time," he said. He nodded awkwardly and walked away. I followed him. I suspected we were going hunting.
I felt ashamed. I thought this could never work out. There was something, some reason, why we couldn't be together. I wanted to know it.
As we were walking through the woods, the birds chirped loudly. I looked around for good meat. I saw nothing.
I heard something rustling in the distance. Byron and I looked over and pointed our arrows at it. I saw something moving. I got closer to the bush. A woman, who was unfortunately naked, came out of the bushes crying and dirt on her face.
