Byron, Beatrice, and I find shelter in an old, abandoned house. Probably from the 1700s or something. The heavy rain patted on the roof with a slow, steady beat.
I'm sitting on the floor so I lean myself against the wall. I want to sleep, but I can't. Everything that was going on was to much. That thing that Byron and I can't be together, the whole kingdom against me, and Beatrice's father coming back and getting her.
Even though I was jealous of Beatrice, I still cared for her. It sounded weird but it was true. It felt like I was her older sister and I had to take care of her.
I knew 17 wasn't that young but she was still younger than me. By 2 years. A thought struck me out of the blue.
"Byron?" I asked my tone rough. He turned towards me.
"Where are we going?" The question lingered in my head once in a while but I didn't think of asking it until now.
"I'm not sure," he said. I suddenly got really upset. Byron doesn't know where we're going? Is he even who I think he is? Is he really that tough? I knew these questions were random, but three words can tell you a lot.
"You don't know!" I wailed.
"Relax," Byron said. "Calm down, Destiny."
"No I will not 'calm down'. I thought you knew where we were going that's why I was following you. I guess my destiny isn't decided yet." I smirked, using that word in a sentence made me think why my parents named me that.
"I'm sorry, Destiny, I just wanted to get you out of the cell as fast as I could, so I didn't have any time to plan where we were going." I nodded, slightly ashamed that I was so mean to him because of his mistake.
"Sorry," I said. "I just kind of overreacted." Byron nodded and began to chuck some corn that he found lying around in the woods.
The rain got harder by the second. The rain turned into ice. The roof couldn't hold this much.
Some of the wood roof landed in between Beatrice and I. It wasn't safe in here or outside. I had no idea what to do. I was scared. Another thing to be scared about.
The entire roof collapsed and fell onto us. I tried to breathe but because of the roof, I couldn't. My ribs felt broken. Beatrice and I tried to struggle free but the roof would not budge. "Holy shit," I cried.
I looked over at Byron. He wasn't moving. "Byron!" I cried shaking his muscular arms. "Wake up." He didn't move. With every piece of ice landing on the roof, I winced in pain.
I got my arm free and checked his pulse. He was breathing. I sighed. "Beatrice," I said
worriedly. "We have to get out of here."
I was almost 100 percent sure I was gonna die. I could barely move the roof and if I did escape, I'm pretty sure the ice would crush us.
I looked over to see if Byron was awake. To my surprise, he was yanking the roof off his body. He was super strong. Super attractive.
Beatrice and I helped him out even though Byron was technically doing all the work. When we escaped, I was very happy.
We all ran out of the building. The ice was still coming down, but we couldn't help getting hit.
The last thing I saw was a gigantic ice block hurdling into my face and the fresh sight of blood on Beatrice and Byron.
