It felt weird being alone. No one to talk too or walk with. I was all alone. I didn't want to be like Byron and have no idea where I was going. So I decided in the next village, I would find someone to stay with, get a job, and get my own home when I have enough money. What a brilliant idea.
I could tell it was around noon because of the sun and the sky. I learned how to tell time from the sun in 4th grade. I decided it was time to eat.
It felt good making my own decisions. Not listening to Byron or whoever else. I sat down beside a nearby willow tree. I took out one of the blocks of cheese and I ripped off about a fourth of it. I gobbled it up happily. After, I couldn't believe it, I was full.
I sat up and took a water bottle out of my backpack. I drank some of it then I put it away. I continued walking. The sun was shining through the shade of the trees. It was a pretty sight.
I was surprised Byron, Beatrice, and Daniel hadn't found me yet. And I didn't go to far. Or else they weren't looking for me. The thought made me cringe. "Does anyone even care about me," I thought. I mean, my parents didn't even try to bail me out of jail. And I'm pretty sure they knew I didn't murder, rob, or commit adultery. How could I have commit adultery if I wasn't even married? Maybe just another lame excuse to put me in jail. I distracted myself with the birds singing their lulling toon.
If the kingdom was searching for me, they haven't done a very good job. And I was 100 percent sure they were looking for me. I am number two most wanted, next to this guy named Sammy who killed like 40 people by throwing them in a giant fire pit. But, that was like when I was born. My parents told me I had a twin brother, but was kidnapped and thrown into the fire along with the others. I felt very sad that I never met him.
It began to get cold, even though it was only around noon. I reached for the jacket in my backpack and I put it on. I felt like somebody was following me. I turned around and I saw nothing. I turned around and continued my walk.
But, the suspicion that someone was following me loomed over me. I began to walk faster. Sweat trickled down my forehead. I doubted anyone was following me. Sometimes my "sixth sense" went all wacky. I began to get less worried and I slowed down. The sky turned darker and the air turned colder with every minute that went by. Something weird was going on.
I felt something right behind me. I turned around. Nothing. I began to run. I was scared out of my mind. My sixth sense never acted like this. Something has to be up. I run at a fast pace. I trip on a large branch and I fall. Hard. I scrambled up. Something jumped down from the trees and I startled back. The thing in front of me was a person and a female. She wore a beanie and leather pants and jacket. I bumped into someone and I turned around. I saw a male in a similar outfit. All of a sudden, more people like them came. I was creeped out.
"Who the hell are you?" I croaked.
"We're the West Willow Bandits," the leader that I originally saw said. Uh oh, I thought, Bandits. They're gonna kidnap me.
"Please," I cried. "Don't give me any trouble."
"Yeah, I don't think that's gonna happen," the leader said. "My name is Carly." She put out her hand and she grabbed mine. She felt it vigorously. Carly let go. "No diamonds or gold on you," she said. "Check her backpack," Carly commanded to one of the guys in the West Willow Bandits. He did what he was told. "Only food and clothes, boss," he said and Carly nodded.
"Nothing interesting," Carly said and I got nervous. "But, the food might do us some good." If they took my food, I would have none! Hopefully the next village was close by.
I heard footsteps and I turned around. Ten members of the army from my kingdom were here and ready to get me back. I was more nervous then ever. This is it, I thought, I'm going back to the dungeon. The army ran at full speed once they saw me. I tried to get up and run, but the West Willow Bandits had a good grip. "Please," I said to Carly. "I need to go! They'll get me!" Carly nodded to the others and they let me go. I began to run.
"Hold one a second, prissy pants," Carly said and I turned around. "Don't go anywhere. We'll fight them off. We're not done robbing you." She smiled at me, turned around, and yelled "ATTACK!" The Bandits charged at the army full of strong men. In the first minute, two army members were already dead. They were good.
A guard stabbed a sword into one of the Bandits' face. He fell back and landed on the ground near where I was. He looked like he was only 13. I felt his pulse. Dead. When I looked up from the boy, five of the army members overall were dead and the rest were injured. These Bandits were amazing.
After two more minutes of fighting, I'm pretty sure all of the army was dead. The Bandits walked over here. "What happened here?" Carly asked pointing to the boy who had died. "He's dead," I responded on the verge of tears. "Yep," Carly said as she kicked him. "Dead as a donut." I was surprised. None of them cared that one of their fellow bandits died.
"Hey," Carly said and I looked up. "Why were those guys after you?"
I stood up and said, "Back in my kingdom they said I committed murder, robbery, and adultery, so when I escaped prison, they were looking for me and they are still looking for me now as well." Carly turned to her other teammates and they all nodded.
"Hey, Bitch," Carly said. "Do you wanna join the bandits? We need a replacement for this little guy." She kicked him again. "Oh and also, if you don't join the West Willow Bandits we will probably strip you naked, take all your stuff, and hurt you pretty badly," Carly said, her lips pursed.
Being a Bandit actually sounded like a good idea, but I wouldn't really want to be a bandit. I guess I had no choice but to say yes. "I'm in," I said and I shook Carly's hand. "Oh, by the way," she said and I nodded. "My name is Mary."
