I look in my closet. "Should I choose the black dress or the white dress," I say to myself.
"The black one." I turn around and see Beatrice standing their pointing to the black dress.
It's been a few days since I arrived at the hotel, out of harms way. I applied for a job at a clothing shop. I am heading to the interview for the job. I do hope I get in. Byron got a job as a construction worker on the new apartment building. Daniel got an interview as a worker at a restaurant, but does not know if he got the job yet. Beatrice, well she didn't plan anything yet.
"Why aren't you applying for a job?" I asked Beatrice.
She shrugged.
I looked at her and looked down at my dress. I tried to hide the single tear slipping down my pale face. If Beatrice didn't get a job or apply for one, we wouldn't have enough money to survive. Hopefully Peter would help us. He's been a good friend the past couple of days.
We told him all the stories of why we were in the forest and how I escaped from jail thanks to Byron. Peter has been very supportive. "If anybody from your village comes to find you, Destiny, I will be at your side to fight them off," Peter once said.
I walked into the bathroom and put on my dress.
A few minutes later, I walked out of the bathroom with my dress on.
"Bye, Beatrice," I said as I walked out the door.
"Bye," I could hear her say.
--------------------
The ground felt awfully hard as I walked to the clothing shop. I was a little nervous, and a little excited at the same time.
I took a deep breath as I entered the front door of the building. I walked in as my shoes click clacked on the white marble floor.
The store was nice with the walls painted a deep blue with wooden panels all around. Sewing machines were on either side of the store. Dresses and suits hung from the walls.
I walked up to the front desk.
"Can I help you?" the woman asked. The woman had jet black hair and empty eyes that were almost haunting.
"Yes, I have an interview with the manager," I responded.
"Well then it's your lucky day," she responded. "I'm the manager!" She smiled. Her smile almost looked fake. Out of all the people in this little town, she had to be the manager. That woman really freaked me out.
"My name is Aya," she said as she stuck out her small, pale hand.
"My name is Destiny."
"Nice name," Aya said.
She walked to the back of the store. I followed. I wonder who would handle the counter now.
We sat down at a small wooden table. She stared at me in the eye. I began to sweat. From now on, I knew I was scared of her.
Aya asked me many questions which took about 10 minutes.
"Please, sit here," she said as she walked out of the small room. I had no idea why I was so scared of her. I would of just ditched the interview if we didn't really need the money. But, in this case, we need the money.
A few minutes later Aya walked in with that creepy fake smile of hers.
"Congratulations," she said. "You got the job."
"Thank you," I said. I shook her hand. I tried to sound as happy as possible.
"So, I'll see you tomorrow at 5," Aya said.
"Five in the afternoon, right?" I asked.
"No," she responded. "Five in the morning."
"Oh god," I muttered to myself.
"What was that?" She asked.
"Nothing," I responded. Aya was scary enough without the super hearing. I couldn't believe I had to be down here by five in the morning. Hopefully, it would earn me enough money to support Beatrice, Byron, Daniel, and I.
A new thought arose in my head. No wonder nobody worked here. Aya is as scary as shit.
----------------
I walked back to the hotel very slowly. I did everything slowly. I entered my room focused on how I was going to get up at four in the morning.
Another new thought hit me. I never found out why Byron didn't like my kiss or whatever that was.
I walked to Byron's room. He was dirty and sweating like crazy. He had his shirt off so his muscles, abs, and pecks were showing. Just as he saw me, he immediately grabbed a shirt and put it on. I looked on to the ground. I didn't want Byron to see me cry. I wiped my tears away and looked up.
"What's up?" Byron asked.
"About the reason why you didn't want to kiss me or like my kiss," I said.
"Ok," He responded shakily. "Um..."
"Just tell me," I said. Byron was holding it off way to long.
"Uh..." He was really nervous. He yanked me onto the bed. My head fell into the blankets. I sat up, looking at him.
"I'm sorry," Byron said. "I'm just really nervous right now."
"No need to be nervous," I said in a soothing voice.
"Ok, here it goes," he said as I took a deep breath. "Destiny, um, I am your... your..." Byron paused as he took a deep breath.
"Destiny, I am your brother."
