Leia has won a lawsuit against SM Entertainment regarding the mistreatment and termination of the contract.

On December 31, Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, Leia, and dismissed SM Entertainment's suit for damages for 2 billion won. The judge stated, "We confirm that the contract signed between the plaintiff and defendant will no more valid. The defendant is also required to pay the plaintiff a total of 3 billion won for the damages made towards the plaintiff."

The judge added, "SM Entertainment is required to pay their artists the true amount of their pay and they will be under strict monitoring by the police from time to time for two years."

Fans of idols under SM Entertainment also had a petition for SM to start treating their idols as humans rather than a robot. Judge also favored the fans' petition for SM to change their treatments of their artists.

Present with Leia during the court session was the legendary singer and CEO of P NATION, PSY. Other than that, NCT's Taeyong and Mark was also present to be a witness and evidence of the mistreatment of SM towards them.

May this be a new start for the company. May this also be a lesson to other bosses that their workers can file a lawsuit against them and it can be judged by the rights of humans and workers.

After the ruling, Leia commented, "I couldn't do anything during the long years of arguments and conflicts between us, and I am very happy to have won the lawsuit. I stated the truth, and the truth got across. I am thankful to my fans and acquaintances who have supported me and sympathized with me. I will go back to square one and repay those who supported me through good productions and in great form."

It is stated that SM Entertainment had signed an extended agreement to participate in some activities including albums and concerts. However, for now, Leia chose to take a break from the group.

Leia debuted as a part of NCT under SM Entertainment in 2016. Ever since debuting, she made a name for herself through her songwriting skills, producing skills, and especially choreographing. In 2022, Leia filed a legal complaint against SM Entertainment after the company attempted to terminate her contract with the agency without discussion which was publicly announced, detailing the specific issues that led to a breach of trust and arguments.
