LILY Makes History At Billboard Music Awards

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards is taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on April 22. Lily attended the ceremony for the first time after being a soloist in person and snagged all three awards she was nominated for, which are Favorite Best New Artist, Billboard Chart Achievement, and Top Female Artist. For Top Female Artist, Lily was up against Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Halsey.

Lily has become the first female Asian act in history to win 3 all the nominations at the Billboard Music Awards, and this is only Lily's first time attending the ceremony as a soloist.

Announced as winner for Top Female Artist, Lily came up on stage to receive her trophy. She said, "Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me throughout my career. To my fans, lots of thanks to you. This is only my first time being nominated as a soloist and I'm already winning. This is all possible because of your support and love to me. Thank you so much for your support. Lots of thank you to you."

Later on, she was back on stage to receive the Billboard Chart Achievement which was voted by fans and Lily expressed, "Thank you so much to my fans who has voted for me. Again, I am still in shock. I couldn't believe my eyes. I honestly am dizzy right now because I can't believe this. Thank you so, so, so, so, so, much!"

Lastly, for the Best New Artist award, Lily shared that she forgot what she was supposed to say earlier on and now, she continued, "Thank you so much, BBMAs. I'm truly honored to be invited and to be on this stage and to perform. I know there are a lot of more other artists who deserve this award. But thank you so much."

She gave the rest of her speech, "I want to give a huge shoutout to my family. My group, NCT! They have been supporting me since I first started until now. I bet that they are watching. Thank you so, so, so, so, so much. All members, thank you so much. I can't say all your names but you know who you all are. I love you guys a lot. Thank you for supporting me. P NATION, thank you for your endless support. Thank you so much! To the staff, managers, bodyguards, directors, PSY, seniors. Thank you for your support, your advice. I just wanted to make people happy with my music and I didn't expect this to be this huge. Thank you and please, keep supporting me. I will do my best for the rest of this year. Please, look forward to this year. Thank you, BBMAs!"

At the ceremony, Lily performed Salute and Look What You Made Me Do.
