Charlie's POV
"Wake up, Valentine. Breakfast is ready."
My 20 year old cousin, Connor, loved to call everyone by their last names. That's how I know he is the one waking me.
"I'll be down in a second," I groan.
I take a pillow and I place it over my head to cover my ears in hopes of blocking out noise.
"I'll give you five minutes, Valentine," Connor warns me before walking out of the room.
The bed here isn't as comfortable as it is back home. My aunt's beds are somewhat stiff. Managable. Not neccassarily comfortable.
I roll out of bed and create a loud thud onto the floor.
"Ow," I whine.
---
"We should all see a movie this weekend," My aunt, Shayla, suggests.
"Sounds like a great idea to me!" My other aunt, Paris, smiles.
"What do you think, Charlie?" My dad looks away from his food to ask me.
"I would love--"
Wait.. Louis' event. It's been like 4 days since we've spoken so I don't know if he would still want me to go. I don't know when to go.
I check my phone quickly and I see that I have one missed call from Unknown.
That must be Louis.
"Charlie?" My dad questions.
"Yeah?" I answer.
"Does the movies sound good this weekend?" He repeats.
"Uh.. I.. well.. I," I stutter, unsure how to pull off this lie.
"She probably wants to go shopping while she's still in New York," My aunt Paris finishes for me.
"Uh yeah!" I use that as my ticket out "I'm gonna go look up some good clothing stores around here! Be right back!"
I stand from my seat and walk towards where I have been sleeping.
"You will not believe what happened this morning! This guy called to tell me.." I hear my dad begin to tell a story as I walk away.
I dial the Unknown number in hopes of it being Louis. For obvious reasons of course.
"What?" Louis' accent speaks through the phone.
"So you're rude on the phone, too? That's nice," I say sarcastically.
"Why didn't you pick up earlier?" Louis ignores my comment and asks.
"I was sleep. How did you even get my number?" I ask.
"Remember when you called your father on my phone recently? Yeah well I went through my call log and found him. I called him and told him that I was a worker from your job and that I needed to call you to discuss the change in shifts while you were gone. He gave me your number and now we're on the phone," Louis explains.
Smart boy. Smart plan.
"Why'd you call," I change the subject.
"The event is tonight. You said you'd go," Louis reminds me "you're still going, right?"
"Yes I'm going," I peek behind me to make sure no one is listening.
"Good, be ready by eight tonight."
"Wait, eight? How long is the meeting going to be? Who has meetings as eight?"
"Yes, I don't know I didn't arrange it, and me."
I stay silent. I'm trying to plan out all the events tonight and how I'm going to get away with it.
"Charlie?"
"Yes, Louis?"
"..are you still going?"
"I already said yes! Don't ask me again, you twat!"
"Are you still going?"
I can litterally hear Louis burst into laughter as I hang up the phone.
"Hey Connor," I peek my head into the livingroom and whisper "can you come here for a sec?"
Connor stands and walks towards me.
"What's up?" He asks.
"I need you to do me a favor."
---
"Charlie, Connor, where are you two headed off to?" Aunt Shayla questions.
"I'm showing Charlie around the city," Connor tells his mom.
"Are you wearing makeup?" My dad quizzes me as he stares at my appearance.
"Of course she is! Let the girl live a little!" Aunt Paris calms my dad down.
"Ya'll two go on, have fun!" Aunt Paris gives us the ok to leave before me head outside.
Once we step outside, I see Louis smoking a cigarette against a tree near a cab. He is dressed in a white t shirt with black jeans with light blue and white adidas. His hair is slicked back and I realize that this is the first time I've seen him with no hair in his face. That perfectly structured face. It's tough hating an extremely attractive guy.
I take off Connor's large jacket that I used to disguise my outfit leaving the house. I thank him for his help before walking towards Louis.
"You look somewhat decent," He blows out smoke and attempts to give me a compliment. Even though I just mentally called him an extremely attractive guy.
He takes a good look at my appearance before smirking and looking away. I'm not sure if he's laughing at me or simply just smirking. I actually feel kinda good in this outfit. I curled my hair nicely and put a nice shade of pink on my lips. I even put on mascara and eyeliner. My outfit is kind of simple but still cute. It's a plain v neck black dress and I put a cream colored cardigan over it. For footwear, I just threw on some black flats. I don't know what kind of event this is so I didn't want to be over dressed or under dressed.
I give Louis a small smile for his attempt at a compliment. I'm not sure if he was joking or not so I'm not sure if I should be offended.
I awkwardly wait for him to finish his cigarette until I see a large ass spider crawling on the ground.
"Louis! Can we get in the cab now? Please?" I beg Louis and start leaning towards the cab.
"What's your rush?" Louis tosses his cigar.
"There's no point in explaining, let's just go," I don't bother waiting for him once I see the spider inching closer and closer towards us. Louis doesn't wait long before hopping into the backseat and we head toward the event.
Slicked back hair Louis ooh getting feisty! Lol so yall met part of Charlie's family in this. Stayed up late writing this so excuse me if it's bad haha. Love you guys x
