Perfect Timing

Chapter 5

Kathy's POV
School went well this week, and it turned out that Mrs. Hemmings was the best math teacher ever even if she kept calling me Katherine. She was kind, always gives us smiles, and most importantly not strict and boring like the others. Today is Saturday and Caleb wasn't feeling sick anymore so he went out with some of his friends. I was about get out of my bed until Jenny texted me.
J: Hey Kathy. Wanna go somewhere today?
K: Yeah ok. Meet you at the park?
J: Okay Kathy see you there. Bye
K: Bye.
I took a shower and decided to wear a denim shorts, a black crop top that says "Lost in a Dream", and my gold and black flat sandals. I heard someone knock so I rushed down stairs to open the door and I was so surprised of what I found. "Hey Mrs. Hemmings!" I said while smiling at her. "Why hello Katherine." She said then we hugged. "What are doing here?" I asked. "I believe your mother wanted me to tutor you in math" she said. Crap! I totally forgot that I was getting tutored today. "Oh..right. I'm sorry I forgot. Please, come in" I offered. "If you don't mind Katherine, I brought my son with me because I grounded him for today so he was forced to come along with me." She explained. " Of course I don't mind" I said trying my best to give a smile even though I did mind, but hey I don't wanna be rude. "Let me just go get him" she said and walked to the black BMW park across the street. I went inside the house to clean up a little. I was picking old magazines that Caleb used for his project when I heard a familiar voice call me. "Kathy?" I turned around and saw that it was Luke, my eyes widened, I dropped the magazines that I was holding. I was trying my best to quickly pick everything up but Luke started helping me, and when I was about to grab the last magazine I felt his hand touch mine, I looked at him and saw that he was staring at me. I looked away when Mrs. Hemmings went inside holding two books, a whole pad of paper, and two pens. Me and Luke stood up then we sat on the sofa with Mrs. Hemming in between us. "Kathy. Can I ask you a favor?" Asked Mrs. Hemmings.
"Of course" I said with a smile. "Can you call me Liz instead if Mrs. Hemming" she said. "Why?" I asked. "Because darling, Mrs. Hemmings is what they call me at school but where not at school. So call Liz instead" she said and I laughed a little and nodded. I have this weird feeling when I can feel someone staring at me and feeling is starting to come to now. I looked at Luke and he looked away at me instantly. I tried to focus on what Liz teaching me but I just can't help it. "Umm...can we take a break for a minute?" I asked Liz and she nodded. "Let me just go get us something to drink" I said and walked to the kitchen. I was looking for our glass cups on the top cabinets when I heard someone walk behind me. I looked around and it was just Luke standing there with a smirking. "Would you please just stop that. It's kinda creeping me out a little" I said. "Stop what?" He asked. "You think I didn't notice you staring at me the whole time?" I said while opening the cabinets. Luckily I fount the glass cups but I can't reach them. I sighed and was thinking a way to get them until Luke notice me and said "Here, let me get them for you" and reached for the cups with no problem at all. "Thanks" I said and smiled at him. We went back to the living room to find a smiling Liz waiting for us.
3 hours pasted and the tutoring was finally over. I went to the kitchen to wash the cups we used while Liz was fixing her stuff and Luke followed me to the kitchen again. "Hey Kathy...?" He said. "Yeah?" I said. "I was wondering maybe if you have nothing to do today, wanna hang out or something?" He said. "Well I do have nothing to do today. So why not" I said and he smiled. "I'll just take mom back home then I'll come back for you. Okay?" He said. "Okay" I said then he and Liz left.
