I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock ringing at 5:00am which is the exact time when mom comes home from work. I walked downstairs and in perfect timing, mom came in with a wide smile while pulling her luggage behind her. "Caleb! Moms here!" I shouted, not sure if Caleb heard. I ran towards mom and pulled her into a big hug. "Hey sweetie. How are you?" She asked. "We're doing just fine mom. Want something to eat?" She nodded then I walked to the kitchen to cook some Mac and cheese cause I know it's her favorite. She sat at the table as I walked to her with the food I cooked. "I wonder what's taking your brother too long" she said while we we're eating. " I don't know. Let me check". I walked to his room and when I opened the door, I was surprised that he wasn't there. I checked the guest room and the bathroom but he wasn't there either. "What's wrong sweetie?" Mom asked with a worried look on her face. "I can't find Caleb anywhere" I said almost in the merge of tears.
It is now 8:30 in the morning. We've been calling Caleb for almost three hours now. Mom was about to call the police station when the door opened and entered a drunk Caleb who can't walk straight and was about to collapse on the floor. " God Caleb! Where have you been?! You made us worried sick!" Said mom with an angry and worried tone in her voice. "Oh hey mom" was all the drunk Caleb could say. He was about to literally collapsing on the floor, luckily mom was just in time to catch him. "Kathy me get your brother to his room please" said mom and I obeyed. When we finally got Caleb to his room and on his bed, there were tears starting to fall from his eyes while was rubbing her head. "Mom, go get some sleep. You're tired. I I'll handle Caleb" I said. "Are you sure sweetie?". "Yes mom. No get some rest". "Thank you" she said and kissed my forehead then walked to her room. i sat next to Caleb who was now sobbing. "What wrong Caleb?" I said patting his back. "Yesterday I caught Jessica cheating on me but I let it pass" he said sobbing harder. "She called me last night saying she has something urgent to tell me so I went out without you knowing. Turns out all she wanted say is that she wanted to break up with me"he finished. "Oh Caleb" was all I managed to say until I pulled him into a hug and rubbed his back. "Thanks Kathy" he said. "For what?". "For being my little sister". He pulled away from what I called a sibling hug then I said "you should go get some rest. I wonder what you would look like tomorrow with a hangover" and laughed a little then peeked at moms room. She was sleeping. I went to my room, flopped on the bed and checked my phone. Crap! 11 messages.
Sammy: Hey Kathy! I was wondering if you wanted to go shopping with me today.
Jenny: Kathy! Let's go to the mall today with Sammy.
Jenny: Please...
Luke: Hey Kathy
Luke: Wanna go out or something?
Luke: if thinking your a little bit busy
Luke: please text me back
Luke: or call me
Luke: please call me
Luke: okay gonna shut up now. Bye ;)
