Sophia woke up her eyes stinging and red from all of the crying she did last night. Maybe it was just a nightmare? She thought clinging to hope that her Papa was still there.

She jumped out of her bed running around the house looking for her papa. When she relized he was nowhere in the house she began to cry.

Alma came out of her room and saw Sophia crying on the ground. "What's wrong pequeño?"

She looked up at her Abuela but didn't say anything. She ran back to the nursery and hid under her covers continuing to cry.

Alma was very confused as to why her nieta ran from her. She went around the house waking everyone up for breakfast and to get ready for the day.

She went to Bruno's door and saw that the light was gone. She was shocked and scared. Why is the light gone?

Sophia, she must know. Alma went straight to the nursery and pulled the covers off of her completely disregarding her tears.

"Where is your papa?" Alma asked the toddler sternly. Sophia shook her head, "I don't know."

She continued to cry and Alma sat next to her. "You need to stop, he abandoned you. But you shouldn't be crying in here all day. You need to stand up and face the day head on."

Sophia glared at her Abuela and didn't say a word while getting up getting ready for the day. Alma took the glare as a look of determination and smiled at the little girl.

But it wasn't a look of determination it was a look pure rage and hatred. She couldn't comprehend why her papa left. She knew it wasn't because of her. Her papa loved her. But something in her gut was telling her it was all Abuela's fault. And she was going to figure it out and find her papa.

The rest of the morning the family searched for Bruno despite Alma's protests. "He's long gone by now. We should just forget about him and move on."

The day eventually ended with the whole town pretending nothing unusual happened. They all silently agreed to not talk about Bruno Madrigal. Sophia couldn't stand it, did anybody even care about her papa?

Well his sisters did, but they felt too hurt and betrayed by their brother. And Alma felt the most hurt of all. She truly believed that Bruno didn't care about them. That he abandoned the family.

So she was going to do the same about him and pretend she didn't care. When in reality she probably cared the most.
